Review of The Web of Fear by Scottybguud

13 March 2025

This review contains spoilers!

Nice to have a sequel to a previous story. The return of the Yeti, Travers and the Great Intelligence are all good. As a fan of continuity, it's also nice to have the introduction of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, who of course we will see features heavily with the third Doctor and have run ins with more incarnations. This story can be slow at times in the earlier episodes but still enjoyable. Interestingly they used the Cybermen theme tune from their previous two stories in the battle between the Yeti and the soldiers.

Review of The Enemy of the World by Scottybguud

12 March 2025

My favourite story from season 5. Unlike when Hartnell played two characters, Troughton actually changes his voice/accent as he plays both The Doctor and Salamander brilliantly. Evil dictator and oppressed trying to fight back, is always a solid storyline. A six parter that flies by.

Review of Galaxy 4 by Scottybguud

12 March 2025

Before I'd seen the animation recently, I would have agreed that this was a weak and slow start to season 3, but I quite enjoyed it animated. Sometimes when you only have a few set pieces it's a tighter story.

Review of Mission to the Unknown by Scottybguud

12 March 2025

Interesting episode as it features none of the Tardis team, which has never happened before nor since. Seeing all the villains set up the events of The Dalek's Master Plan was quite cool.

Lost and slow historical. A shame as it's the last story for Viki who i enjoyed as a companion.

Review of The Daleks’ Master Plan by Scottybguud

A decent epic 12 parter. Recently watched this with the missing 9 episodes reconstructed using AI so I was able to enjoy the entire thing. Dark, shocking, fast paced, silly and a lot of characters.

Review of The Massacre by Scottybguud

11 March 2025

Watched episodes 1 and 2 as AI reconstruction and the others as telesnaps. Can imagine might be better when it gets animated if it does. But fairly slow historical. Cool idea using Hartnell to play two parts, as most of the future actors also get a story with a double of themselves.

Review of The Celestial Toymaker by Scottybguud

I recently watched the animation of this one, which made it one of my favourites from this season. Some riddles and games was a nice new concept for the show and I rather enjoyed it. Michael Gough as the titular character was a perfect choice.

Review of The Gunfighters by Scottybguud

Despite the repetitive song, I've always found this one fairly enjoyable. Like most westerns though, I do find it unexciting. Bit of fun in a heavily lost season.
