Review of The Android Invasion by Scottybguud

22 May 2025

This review contains spoilers!

This one has grown on me over the years. The mystery of what's going on makes episodes 1 and 2 good. Episode 3 is a bit slow, but then it picks up again in ep4. We get to see Harry and Benton again, but this, sadly, is the last appearance for both characters. Having androids is fun as we don't know if it's the actual Doctor, Sarah, Unit soldiers...etc, or if its an android. The Kraals are fine as the alien villains. Overall, this story is better than you remember.

Review of Pyramids of Mars by Scottybguud

21 May 2025

Nice location setting. The side characters are all good. The Doctor realising he's up against Sutekh, a being of greater power than the Doctor is used to, gives the story an extra uniqueness. But, despite the danger of the villain, this story feels small scale and quiet, which stops me from giving it more stars. Saying that though, it's still my second favourite story from this season, after Zygons.

Review of Planet of Evil by Scottybguud

Usually find this boring and the worst of season 13. But, on this rewatch, I kind of enjoyed it. The Doctor gets a bit angry in this, which is good to watch The side characters are fine.

Review of Terror of the Zygons by Scottybguud

20 May 2025

A great start to season 13. Possibly my favourite from the season. Having the unit regulars is always welcome. The Zygons are a really good alien species, it's surprising they aren't used again until the 50th anniversary. Despite the visuals of the Loch Ness monster, it was a fun idea to use it as another threat.

Review of Revenge of the Cybermen by Scottybguud

18 May 2025

Season 12 is very good, until this one. The Cybermen sound wrong and aren't menacing like in the 60s. The Vogans are boring. The main three are good.

Review of Genesis of the Daleks by Scottybguud

16 May 2025

Understandably lauded as one of the greatest stories from the entirety of the show. Davros is an excellent villain, Nyder is also great as his second in command and very Nazi-like. A serious performance from Tom Baker's Doctor, showing how big the actions and consequences of this story are. The few scenes of the newly created Daleks are good. Here, they're not silly or incompetent like they were in the Pertwee era. Without a doubt, the best serial of season 12.

Review of The Sontaran Experiment by Scottybguud

15 May 2025

Every time I watch this one i like it more. It's become my second favourite from this strong season. Only being two parts, it breezes by. The Doctor, Sarah and Harry all get something to do, and the Sontaran, played by the same actor from Time Warrior, is once again great as a member of this species.

Review of The Ark in Space by Scottybguud

15 May 2025

The kind of story we haven't seen in Doctor who for awhile. A monster on a spaceship, which turns the humans into one of them. The first two episodes are the stronger of the four, as we don't know what's going on. Harry is a great addition to the tardis team. It's a good story.

Review of Robot by Scottybguud

12 May 2025

Feels very much like a Pertwee story, but I guess that was on purpose, some familiarity to go with the new Doctor. It's great to have the Brigadier and Benton do a lot as we will start to see them a lot less from this point on in the show. Tom Baker fits in right away as the fourth Doctor, episode one he especially shines in. The villains are fine as is the titular Robot, although the graphics aren't good.

Review of Planet of the Spiders by Scottybguud

9 May 2025

This review contains spoilers!

Probably my favourite of season 11. We get all the unit regulars, car/boat chases, and giant spiders. Yates gets his redemption, there is another time lord who regenerates, which of course also happens to the Doctor as he is drained with usage of the blue crystal  and from his battle with the Great One. Pertwee is my favourite classic Doctor, so it's sad to see him go, but season 11 probably was his weakest and it's always exciting to see the next Doctor.
