Review of Meglos by Scottybguud

5 July 2025

Can be slow in parts, but nice to see Jacqueline Hill, who played Barbara with the first doctor, playing a different character. And having Meglos turn into the doctor was good,  always fun when the our main actor plays both the doctor and the villain.

Review of The Leisure Hive by Scottybguud

3 July 2025

A nice fresh feel to start season 18 with the new title music and Tom's new wardrobe. Fairly solid sci fi story with fine cast. The Doctor and Romana seem to have the least to do though.

Review of Shada by Scottybguud

2 July 2025

Just like City of Death, Shada is a standout from the last couple of seasons. After seasons 15 and 16 were, Tom's 4th and 5th season, kind of just being fine plodding along, season 17 has felt a bit fresh on this rewatch. An interesting story, the music, the location sets all make this feel like a big impressive finale.

Review of The Horns of Nimon by Scottybguud

1 July 2025

Not as bad as people make out. Yeah, the villain is over the top and the Nimon move a bit silly but the story is a good and the cast are fine.

Sets look good but I found this one quite boring apart from a few good performances.

Review of The Creature from the Pit by Scottybguud

On this rewatch or enjoyed this one more than previously. Tom is great in it, K9 has lots to do and the villains ain't bad. The monster looks naff but good idea.

Review of City of Death by Scottybguud

27 June 2025

By far the best of this season and in top 5 of all classic who. The last time I gave a 4 star was back in season 14 with the Deadly Assassin. The Doctor is great, Romana is great and of course Julian Glover is always a great villain. Lots of comedic moments that work and the Paris setting just made it feel big and fresh.

Review of Destiny of the Daleks by Scottybguud

26 June 2025

Just like most(not all) of classic who Dalek stories, this is kind of boring. Being kind of a sequel to Genesis, one of the best stories in Doctor who history, this is very disappointing. The actor playing Davros just sounds awful and not menacing at all. Episode one was fine, with Romana's regeneration and her interaction with the Doctor.

Review of The Armageddon Factor by Scottybguud

26 June 2025

I don't get the low rating on this one. For me it's by far the best story in season 16. No part of it drags as a six parter can sometimes do. It's very much like a sci-fi movie. A warmongering commander, a princess, a dark cult led by the Shadow who also answers to far superior evil being. We get another time lord too. Fun and easy watch.

Review of The Power of Kroll by Scottybguud

Never understood the hate for this one. I find it kinda of fun. Big monster is cool if a bit naff looking. Good cast and the Doctor and Romana are great.

Review of The Androids of Tara by Scottybguud

24 June 2025

Not bad, not good. Never really been a fan of the medieval/fantasy stories in doctor who, they are attacked bit slow and no sense of danger. They android doppelgangers are a good part of the story though

Review of The Stones of Blood by Scottybguud

22 June 2025

A fine story. The gothic setting is good, the characters are good and it's paced well. The Ogri were a bit silly, though, and part 4 was a bit weird with the court hearing.

Review of The Pirate Planet by Scottybguud

One of the better stories from this season. Fun villains and all the cast get to do plenty.

Review of The Ribos Operation by Scottybguud

19 June 2025

Never really enjoyed this one. Very slow and kind of boring. Romana's introduction is good as is the mission briefing from the White Guardian for the key to time, which will take place over the entirety of season 16. So, a mediocre start to this season.

Review of The Invasion of Time by Scottybguud

19 June 2025

Kind of a sequel to the Deadly Assassin. The Doctor and Leela end up on Gallifrey, as the Doctor seems to have made a deal with the Vardan race to invade the homeworld of the Time Lords. The Doctor becoming President this time as he once threw his name in for consideration. Episodes 1 to 4 are good, but once the Sontarans turn up I ep 5 it just seems too much. Leela's exit is a bit naff too.

Review of Underworld by Scottybguud

The story is boring and the special effects are possibly the worst in the history of the show.

Review of The Sun Makers by Scottybguud

16 June 2025

An oppressive regime on the planet Pluto and a resistance that wants to fight back. Always a storyline that's enjoyable in science fiction. All the cast seem to be having fun which shows as there's never really a dull moment.

Review of Image of the Fendahl by Scottybguud

Very much like a hammer horror movie, which i rather enjoy. One part you might think wow the Doctor did that: he passes a gun to a man who wants to shoot himself.

Review of The Invisible Enemy by Scottybguud

13 June 2025

A fun bright sci fi after the dull previous story. It's K-9's first story. Leela gets to do a lot of action and we even get clones of the two main leads. Well paced story.

Review of Horror of Fang Rock by Scottybguud

9 June 2025

I thought on this rewatch I'll have no distractions and just concentrate on this. But, once again, I didn't find it exciting. It's one of those that fandom loves and I just don't get it.

Review of The Talons of Weng-Chiang by Scottybguud

6 June 2025

A strong season finale. All the cast are likable and get lots to do. The trio of villains are good. The giant rat is a bit crap but fine as you don't see it much. Overall, a solid story.

Review of The Robots of Death by Scottybguud

3 June 2025

I always think maybe on this next watch I'll enjoy this one more like the majority of the fanbase do. But, it never happens. It's enjoyable, the cast are good, the Robots are good and look good, but the story just doesn't excite me. Out of the six stories of season 14 I rank it 5th. 3 stars is still good, it's just I find the rest of the season better.

Review of The Face of Evil by Scottybguud

A fine story to introduce Leela as the new companion. It's always fun when the villain looks like the Doctor as well. That's about it. Not bad but not great.

Review of The Deadly Assassin by Scottybguud

30 May 2025

This review contains spoilers!

No companion, just the Doctor on Gallifrey. The president of the time lords has been assassinated and the Doctor has been framed. It turns out the Master is back, dying and decayed, and with the corrupted Chancellor, who actually killed the president, all so the Master could save himself from death and destroy Gallifrey. This is one of Tom Bakers best stories, if not the best, imo. The Master having run out of regenerations was a good way of explaining in universe why he's decayed and doesn't look like he used to. Great story.

Review of The Hand of Fear by Scottybguud

29 May 2025

This review contains spoilers!

Enjoyable story. Episodes 1-3 were especially good, very third Doctor era. But once Eldrad returns home and regenerates in the last episode, it wasn't as good. And for the exit of a long serving companion like Sarah, it wasn't great for a farewell episode.
