A good start to season 9. The first appearance of the Daleks in 5 years/5 seasons. They don't do much until the last episode, but they're a constant overlord threat. The time travelling back and forth from the 20th to the 22nd century to prevent an oppressive future is cool, as those kind of stories usually are. I've usually said this is my favourite story from s9, let's see if it still is after my current rewatch. Cool concept for the story and the Master gets a lot to do. As do a lot of the cast. Pertwee doesn't though tbf. But such a fun story. But it's probably his weakest story so far or at least on par with Claws of Axos. Both are just ok. This one lacks the Unit team though, which is another negative. But still 3 stars because this era is not boring. The interior of the Tardis for the first time in a long time. However, for me, this is the weakest story of the era so far, but it still gets three stars, because it's enjoyable enough with the regular cast including, once again, the Master. Still, it's another good one for the third Doctor, Jo and the UNIT regulars. The Master is present as he's still stranded on Earth. But it's really the machine that's the villain. The Pertwee era continues to be strong and entertaining as we begin season 8. The first appearance of the Doctor's equal, The Master, played brilliantly by Delgado. The Autons aren't as good in this as they were in Spearhead, not as menacing or present. But, that's because they're just pawns for the Master. This is Jo Grant's first story as the companion, she goes on to be my favourite of Classic Who. Another UNIT regular starts here as well: Yates. A good story. It's fun to see the regulars in an alternate universe playing more vicious versions of themselves. The special effect they play so we know we're now switching to the other world is a neat idea. I've always thought Spearhead was the best from this season but maybe because it's only 4 episodes. But, this is definitely the runner up. Was different having the aliens, not the villains, but being used by corrupt humans. It's my least favourite of season 7. Still, it's a good watch Scottybguud View profile Like Liked 0 2 April 2025 · 54 words Classic Who S7 • Serial 2 · (7 episodes)Doctor Who and the Silurians Scottybguud Review of Doctor Who and the Silurians by Scottybguud 2 April 2025 Just as good as Spearhead. Season 7 is a strong start for the third Doctor. Despite being 7 episodes it doesn't drag at any point. The Doctor's sympathy for the Silurians being the original inhabitants of Earth makes for an interesting change of villains. His bickering with people in authority is fun to watch. Great story. Jon Pertwee suits the role immediately. Liz Shaw is good as the companion, more competent than most female companions. We get the familiar face of Brigadier, giving this a nice connection to the previous era. Scottybguud View profile Like Liked 1 Show All Reviews (60) Sorting, filtering, and pagination, coming soon!
