RIVER: When you love the Doctor, it's like loving the stars themselves. You don't expect a sunset to admire you back. And if I happen to find myself in danger, let me tell you, the Doctor is not stupid enough, or sentimental enough, and he is certainly not in love enough to find himself standing in it with me!

RIVER: So, assuming tonight is all we have left.

DOCTOR: I didn't say that.

RIVER: How long is a night on Darillium?

DOCTOR: Twenty four years.

RIVER: I hate you.

DOCTOR: No, you don't.

RORY: Are you sure, River? Are you really, properly sure?

RIVER: Of course I'm sure. I'm his wife.

AMY: Yes! And I'm his --- mother in law.

RIVER: Father dear, I think Mummy might need another drink.

RIVER: I can't let you die without knowing you are loved by so many, and so much, and by no one more than me.

DOCTOR: River, you and I, we know what this means. We are ground zero of an explosion that will engulf all reality. Billions on billions will suffer and die.

RIVER: I'll suffer if I have to kill you.

DOCTOR: More than every living thing in the universe?

RIVER: Yes.

DOCTOR: Mels. Short for-

MELS: Melody.

AMY: Yeah. I named my daughter after her.

DOCTOR: You named your daughter after your daughter.

ROSE: Basically, we've been building this, er, this travel machine, this, this er, dimension cannon, so I could. Well, so I could-

DOCTOR: What?

ROSE: So I could come back. Shut up.

RIVER: If you die here, it'll mean I've never met you.

DOCTOR: Time can be rewritten.

RIVER: Not those times. Not one line. Don't you dare. It's okay. It's okay. It's not over for you. You'll see me again. You've got all of that to come. You and me, time and space. You watch us run.

ROSE: (breaking down) Am I ever gonna see you again?

DOCTOR: You can't.

ROSE: What are you gonna do?

DOCTOR: Oh, I've got the TARDIS. Same old life, last of the Time Lords.

ROSE: On your own?

[The Doctor nods his head]

ROSE: I... I love you.

DOCTOR: Quite right, too. And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it... Rose Tyler...

DOCTOR: (with Rose on an alien planet) How long are you going to stay with me?

ROSE: Forever.

ROSE: Everyone leaves home in the end.

DOCTOR: Not to end up stuck here.

ROSE: Yeah, but stuck with you, that's not so bad.

DOCTOR: Yeah?

ROSE: Yes.

DOCTOR: I don't age. I regenerate. But humans decay; you wither and you die. Imagine watching that happen to someone that you-- [breaks off]

ROSE: What, Doctor?

DOCTOR: You can spend the rest of your life with me, but I can't spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on. Alone. That's the curse of the Time Lords.

ROSE: I can see everything. All that is, all that was, all that ever could be.

DOCTOR: That's what I see. All the time. And doesn't it drive you mad?

ROSE: My head.

DOCTOR: Come here.

ROSE: It's killing me

DOCTOR: I think you need a Doctor.

DOCTOR: That's calmed her down a bit. She's very temperamental when she's roused, isn't she.

JO: You know, I never know whether you're joking or not, I, Ow. Oh, I think I've bruised my tailbone.

DOCTOR: Sorry about your coccyx, Jo, but these little things are sent to try us.

JO: My what?

DOCTOR: Coccyx. Your tailbone.

MASTER [on scanner]: I'm sorry about your coccyx too, Miss Grant. How very sociable of you both to drop in.

JO: You felt sorry for him, didn’t you. You wanted to come down here and see that was all right.

DOCTOR: Well, he used to be a friend of mine once. A very good friend. In fact, you might almost say we were at school together.

JO: How long’s he going to be here?

DOCTOR: Forever, I should think.

MASTER: Doctor, why don't you come in with me? We're both Time Lords, we're both renegades. We could be masters of the galaxy! Think of it, Doctor, absolute power! Power for good. Why, you could reign benevolently, you could end wars, suffering, disease. We could save the universe.

DOCTOR: No, absolute power is evil.

MASTER: Consider carefully, Doctor. I'm offering you a half-share in the universe.

ROSSINI: (Italian) Who the heck are you? Well?

MASTER: I am usually referred to as the Master.

ROSSINI: Oh? Is that so?

MASTER: Universally.

(They can see Victoria on the scanner.)

JAMIE: We can't just leave her.

DOCTOR: We are not leaving her, Jamie. It was her decision to stay. She'll be quite all right with the Harrises. Now don't worry so much, Jamie.

JAMIE: I'm not, I'm just. Och, come on, let's go.

DOCTOR: Well, where would you like to go?

JAMIE: I couldn't care less.

DOCTOR: I was fond of her too, you know, Jamie.

(Dodo hugs Steven.)

DODO: Oh, Steven.

STEVEN: I shall miss you both, Dodo.

DODO: I shall miss you.

DOCTOR: (direct to camera) Incidentally, a Happy Christmas to all of you at home!

— First Doctor, The Daleks’ Master Plan

DOCTOR: Well, my boy, we finally rid this planet of Daleks.

STEVEN: Bret, Katarina, Sara.

DOCTOR: What a waste. What a terrible waste.

VICKI: Doctor? He says the TARDIS isn't a time machine.

DOCTOR: Oh, does he now?

VICKI: Tell him.

DOCTOR: I don't see why I should, my child. He'll learn soon enough.

STEVEN: Look, Doctor, I've seen some spaceships in my time, admittedly nothing like this. Well, what does this do?

DOCTOR: That is the dematerialising control and that, over yonder, is the horizontal hold. Up there is the scanner, those are the doors, that is a chair with a panda on it. Sheer poetry, dear boy. Now please stop bothering me.

STEVEN: Look, you gave this ship a name just now, what was it?

VICKI: TARDIS, T A R D I S. It stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space.

STEVEN: IDBI.

VICKI: What? IDBI?

STEVEN: I D B I.

VICKI: Yes?

STEVEN: It means I Don't Believe It.
