Man this is a banger and it has so many fun things going on. The B plot with Six and Mel dealing with the fallout from their ill-fated adventure on Maradnias gets lost under everything else in the final act and I wish it would have been given at least one more dedicated scene to wrap things up, but otherwise it was a fun novel that kept my attention and gave me some really fun blorbo moments to chew on (the blorbos being Mel and Six).

Incredible to me just how much Bonnie shines in this little short. She's such a talented actress and given the right script she really stands out.

This is also just such a cute little short, and it made me smile. The 24 carat pun is also, admittedly, pretty funny.

Mel and the Rani getting gay catty dialogue, looms being somewhat canon, and Thirteen coming back were the redeeming factors here but everything else makes me feel like I need to be put down like a sick dog

There is a lot of silly nonsense in this story which is generally how I like my Doctor Who, and I greatly enjoyed Six being a jealous fussy baby about Joe being part of the crew, even if I found Joe himself to be a little lame (which is probably the intention). It was a goofy, short adventure and I had fun with it.

The summary of the book leaves you expecting a bit of a different book than you get and I do think it should have been longer, as we really could have used more time to get to know some of the side characters more and the pacing was a bit off to me, but I read this book primarily for Mel and on that front it delivered. You can tell Bonnie Langford had a lot of fun with this and that she really loves Mel as a character, and it's so nice getting an entire book dedicated to her and expanding on her as a person.

I must have bad taste because I didn't think this was all that terrible. Six yelling at Peri and her flinching was clearly intended for laughs but fails miserably, but other than that it's a middling story.

Mel's exit bothers me immensely and I think that she really should have been kept on for another season (I highly disagree with Bonnie Langford on the thought that there was nothing left to do with Mel; there was so much more that could have been done with her). I underestimated just how fun she and Ace are together and I am now in agony over what will never be on TV. At least there's the extended universe.

There is some wacky stupid bullshit in this serial but that's just par for the course for Classic Who and I find it delightful. Seven is a bit like a cartoon character at times and it makes his very serious moments hit so much harder.

It is hysterical how fast Jo befriends Sarah. Every interaction involving Jo is so precious to me and I adore her. Absolutely killed me when she found out about Amy and Rory, though, and the absolute pain on the Doctor's face when he realized.

It's silly, I don't really understand why they made so many old people jokes about Jo, but overall it was a super sweet episode with some very good moments.

Leans a lot more into the spooks and the horror than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised.

The Rani is so sick of these stupid gay idiots it's so funny

Some interesting political commentary that I'm not sure how to feel about, but it was fun and I want to punt Sil into the sun

It is actually insane to me that the story kind of brushes past the (very understandable) intense concern Six has upon realizing Mel was drugged out of her mind, helpless, and essentially trapped in a household with a possessive, intensely not okay man for actual months. Sure, Mel doesn't have any memory of anything that might have happened, but it's still horrific to think about.

It's such an insanely terrifying implication to tuck inside of an otherwise pretty average Doctor Who story.

I do think about this story a lot actually it has SO many wonderful character moments for Mel and it used Davros in a very interesting way. It puts all the characters in very interesting predicaments and it's so fun to listen to.

Regeneration psychosis is such a fun concept. Too bad it was poorly handled and also stuck in this serial.

There were some really, REALLY good ideas buried in this one. A shame about everything else though.

Absolutely insane hearing Sarah Jane being willing and able to sacrifice a friend for the greater good. Like I get it but also oh my god.

I'm too Faction Paradox brainrotted for this.

Bill thinking Nine looks like a lesbian she had a crush on sent me into hysterics.

Love that scene at the end where all of them are stuck in a room with each other and none of them are enjoying it.

I always have a lot of fun with this episode. It's silly, it's a bit convoluted, and it's got some super fun bits to it. It's probably one of my favorite earlier Capaldi episodes.

This story lives rent free in my head and once again proves Jenny Colgan really, really knows how to write these two.

Ten is a bit of a dork, Donna is just a little bit of a loser, and there's some funny bits (like the entire sequence on the plane where Donna misses Ten being attacked because she's watching a movie) and some genuinely heartfelt moments (like Donna marching off into the jungle to try and find the Doctor after the plane crashes), as well as some completely and utterly horrific moments (like the fate of everyone at the monastary, or Donna succumbing to the infection), and it's all just so much fun.

Also it was kind of fun to see Gully again after Time Reaver.

Partners in Crime is always one of my favorite episodes to rewatch because it's brilliantly directed, Catherine Tate and David Tennant are hysterical, and it really sets up everything that happens over the course of season 4 and makes it so much more satisfying when everything wraps up.

RTD hit his stride with season 4 and this opener is no exception in my opinion.

I adore this episode, and it's one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who ever. It introduces one of my favorite characters of all time in anything ever in Donna, and it's just so silly.

Ten is mopey and sad and wet and pathetic and it's incredibly funny and touching to see someone like Donna (self-absorbed, forceful, and very keen on being a nuisance, but ultimately a good person with a big heart) break through the shell of his grief a little bit and unintentionally save him from himself.

Catherine Tate and David Tennant have fantastic chemistry and it's always so nice to go back and rewatch this knowing that that's why we ended up getting a full season of Donna as a companion. They just bounce off of each other so well and it's delightful.

At first I had a grudge against this episode for what they did to my favorite gremlin old man the First Doctor, but I rewatched it with the explanation from the novelization in mind (that One was just doing that to annoy Twelve) and it became ten times funnier and also very enjoyable. It's a fun episode, even if it's very uncharitable towards the early show and the time period it was written in.

If I had a nickel for every story that featured a dinosaur skeleton on a rampage as a plot point I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. Especially cause Ten sometimes feels like Harry Dresden if he was an alien and constantly high on caffeine.

Also, Donna wearing the Doctor's coat. That is all.

I have many, many thoughts about this episode for a lot of reasons that I can't really put into words at this moment, so I will instead focus on the fact that Ten was mortified that Donna was wearing crocs to this adventure.
