Review of The Bride of Peladon by thedefinitearticle63

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: The Mind's Eye

This story is very reminiscent of a Classic Who companion exit. It just feels quite sudden and jarring, the only reason I'm not that upset is because it was decently set up in previous stories. The actual story itself is very fun, I'm a big fan of Peladon and this is feels like a fitting return to it.

The only thing I think is a bit of a shame is the lack of any relevant political commentary. One of the things I really enjoyed about the original Peladon stories was how they mirrorred real life events involving the EU (I think it was also a big missed opportunity not to have a third Peladon story about Brexit but that's another thing).

This story also serves as a decent sequel to Pyramids of Mars, it follows similar plot beats and it finally recognises that there are more Osirans than Sutekh. It also feels right to have a companion's final story link back to their first. All in all, it's a fun little Peladon story. It's fairly high stakes but not exactly an epic end to Erimem.
