Ian Chesterton was a science teacher at Coal Hill School who agreed to investigate the strange behaviour of pupil, Susan Foreman, along with his colleague and friend, Miss Barbara Wright. Thrust into a world of adventure and danger, Ian was quick to prove himself as courageous, intelligent, determined, amiable and cunning.
Fiercely protective of not only Barbara but also Susan and the Doctor, Ian would fight hand to hand against Aztecs, Saracens, Daleks, Voord and Zarbi. A man of action but also compassion, Ian faced many foes but was all too ready to return to London, 1965 – with Barbara, when the opportunity arose, thanks to an abandoned Dalek time machine.
Many years later, when Ian was in his 90s, he would occasionally join together with other ex-companions and friends of the Doctor in what can only be described as support meetings – meetings with a very exclusive membership.
