Barbara Wright was a history teacher at Coal Hill School who was whisked away into time and space, along with her colleague Ian Chesterton, by the Doctor after she investigated the strange behaviour of his granddaughter, Susan.
Barbara was compassionate, intelligent and determined. She was willing to confront the Doctor about his behaviour and often proved to be the group’s moral compass. Her knowledge of history proved invaluable on their travels although it also lead to her greatest folly of trying to save the Aztecs from their impending destruction. Although Barbara clearly enjoyed her travels through time and space, she always yearned to return home.
