Review of World War Three by epcot

This review contains spoilers!

This episode is definitely a step down from the first part of this story. Eccleston, Piper, Clarke, Coduri, and Wilton are the biggest saving graces, delivering excellent performances in an an otherwise iffy episode. The ending is one of my biggest issues with this story, with 10 Downing Street literally being blown up, something which seemingly has little effect on Britain and the world. I do enjoy what this episode does to set up Harriet Jones, as she's a personal favorite side character of mine. Overall, a decent ending to our first alien invasion story of the revival.

I adore this episode. I don't know if it's just the nostalgia from loving this episode as a child, but something about it perfectly scratches the itch in my brain when I just need a random, monster-of-the-week episode of Doctor Who to watch. I assess the elephant in the room, the fart jokes, as a well-meaning attempt to insert some humor into this otherwise slightly stuffy storyline. Upon a rewatch, the acting from the Slitheen family is better than many people would remember, and I feel that Eccleston (my personal favorite) absolutely shines as the Doctor in this episode. Overall, a good time.

I don't have very much to say about this story. I didn't care for it 10 years ago, and I don't care for it now. Something about the setting, the visual aesthetic of the episode, and the Gelth just do not hook me at all. Definitely not the worst episode of Doctor Who ever created, but one that I'm very comfortable calling "meh" at best.

A fun follow-up to Rose. Eases the new viewer into more aliens and the system of time travel within the universe. The overall plot is nothing to write home about, but it does the job it needs to. Platform Nine is an absolutely gorgeous set, and I do quite enjoy the overall design language of this episode. However, this is definitely not an episode I revisit often, as I feel that, despite taking place billions of years in the future, this is one of the most dated-feeling episodes of this series. Something with the color palette, I don't know. Overall, an enjoyable enough story, and a great second episode

Review of Rose by epcot

As it's my personal 10th anniversary of discovering Doctor Who, I've decided to do a full rewatch of the series (something I haven't done in at least 6 years) to both celebrate the show and prepare myself for the 60th anniversary specials and upcoming series of the show. Rose, to this day, still stands as the best possible introduction to the world of Doctor Who. Every single detail of this episode perfectly sets up the universe to someone completely unfamiliar with the series, and despite some iffy special effects, the episode still holds strong today. The story also does an excellent job introducing another aspect of Who, the cheesiness. To fully enjoy the show, it's my belief that one has to be okay with a lot of camp, and this episode, with the Auton Mickey and killer mannequins, does exactly what it should in setting the viewer up for the program. Overall, a fun episode, and one that certainly excites me for the journey ahead.
