Theatre of War continues the same quality batch as presented in "Love & War" and "Nightshade," delivering a very attractive plot with a consistent, very solid, intriguing, and pleasant narrative to listen to. Adapted by the original writer Justin Richards, Doctor, Benny, and Ace are thrown onto a planet whose life is centered around a mysterious theatre that, through some technological invention, reproduces various famous theatrical plays. As the story unfolds, we discover that this whole scenario is more than just recreated enactments - Its architectural ruins come to life killing people by performing three-dimensional scenes; it's a fantastic idea making the audio immersion even more incredible (special mention to the sound effects, very atmospheric). In the first half, we have that fun standard Doctor Who romp, Ace and the Doctor run through the corridors of the planet Menaxus being surprised by the local phenomena. Even though it does not present the same quality as the first part, I really liked the second half, unlike many. Benny enters a subplot, encountering "Braxiatel," who, from what I researched, is a very important character found in his spin-offs, I felt a better use of the companion in this audio compared to The Highest Science. You might be wondering how complex Theatre of War seems to be, take it from me, its plot and concepts never become confusing, it's a really fun and atmospheric trip.
