A kind of detective story in the setting of ancient Egypt. Actually, it's a cool story and a good one for an older reader. In fact, the ‘antagonist’ is not an intelligent being and the Doctor is just trying to stop the spread and understand where it started, honestly, the worst part of the book is the ending where the Doctor reveals where the antagonist actually comes from. But on the good side, everything is good until the ending (except Amy). The story develops in two branches: 1. Victorian Egypt, where the abandoned Rory and a group of archaeologists are experiencing stress, heat, dehydration and just trying to survive; 2. Ancient Egypt, where the Doctor and Amy live their best detective life (we'll leave out the fact that the Doctor is poisoned). In fact, this trope - the Doctor with Amy in her branch, Rory in his branch - is common to all three books I've read in this series, but here it is brought to its climax by the separation in time. And I have to admit that Rory's branch in Victorian Egypt is written really well, ancient Egypt is also great, but Amy is annoying with her annoying comments and jokes about ancient Egypt (but I'm not a fan of Amy in general).
