Following the shocking final events of The Pyramid Of Sutekh, Ace and Bernice now race against time in search of the amulet called "Eye of Horus" hoping to discover what actually happened to the whereabouts of the 7th Doctor. This decision to reverse roles is interesting as it naturally brings more curiosity to the listener, especially since from the first minutes of the previous audio, the Time Lord continues as a victim, transferring all the protagonism to his companions. Fortunately, this ends up working very well, Justin Richards delivers a perfect dynamic between Bernice and Ace, full of great humour with a clash of personalities, something practically impossible to avoid when dealing with two figures with very strong personalities, but all in a tone of friendship making each dialogue fun to follow – I laughed a lot with Bernice choosing Ace's disguise name as “Miss Symmetry” to then make a pun with the word Asymmetry calling her “Miss Ace-Symmetry” hahaha. Besides this great interaction between the two, the plot is very relaxed taking the listener on a fun adventure in search of a valuable object with clues leading to wrong locations, suspicious characters, disguises, and even treasure looters from Egypt. We have another notable ending with two very interesting plot twists, one of them curiously involving an Egyptian goddess and its cliffhanger delivers something unexpected, another episode closure that left me drooling to go check out the next one. In summary, The Vaults Of Osiris fulfills the role of the second step in the Box very well with a fun plot while continuing to feed even more the curiosity of the listener for the next two last steps.
