Synopsis

Split across three realities, the Thirteenth Doctor has more than one problem to solve. The Division's base, way out in the Void, has been taken. Some unlikely allies have joined together, hoping to find victory in Earth's final hour. The Grand Serpent has been making plans, and the Doctor's oldest enemies hold the key to the Doctor's past, poised on handing her their final retribution.

Tunnels beneath the Earth lead to all kinds of places in space and time. As the final Flux event approaches, which door leads to victory? Last call before the end. It's time for contact.

A lot of threads to tie together here, and the result is hard to decipher.

It's a shame; because many of the concepts are great and deserved so much more. If a few things were cut to give stories the space they deserve, this could have been a great!

In our careening into the finale we've ended up somewhere tonally adjacent to Power Rangers. I enjoyed watching it but good lord

This wasn't bad for a 6 episode long story arc, I had fun with it. Not exactly entirely my thing and I just didn't care for the villains at all. Dan is a really fun character and I wish he was a companion for longer than he is!!!

This review contains spoilers!

It stinks.  It is pay-off to all the build-up of Flux in the weakest way possible.  Once again Chibnall ends a big story by vomiting out some exposition and farting out a conclusion to the conflict in the most hand-wavy means possible.  Flux as a whole is a colossal failure.  A catastrophe of undelivered potential.  Is half the universe gone?  Have our characters changed or really been challenged at all?  It will take another show-runner to answer that and even show a hint of the Doctor grieving.  I like looking back on this now a bit more since the franchise has moved on a bit.  Flux is not much more than a bad memory now and I prefer it that way.

DOCTOR: Yaz. I'm sorry. I didn't let you in to what I was doing. Going after Karvanista. What I was looking for. I shouldn't have shut you out.

YASMIN: No. You shouldn't have.

DOCTOR: I was looking for... information... about me. A life I never knew. I want to tell you everything.

YASMIN: I'd like that.
