Synopsis

November 23rd 1963 proves to be a significant day in the lives of all eight Doctors…

It's the day that Bob Dovie's life is ripped apart…

It's also a day that sets in motion a catastrophic chain of events that forces the first eight incarnations of the Doctor to fight for their very existence. As a mysterious, insidious chaos unfolds within the TARDIS, the barriers of time break apart.

From suburban England through war-torn alien landscapes and into a deadly, artificial dimension, all these Doctors and their companions must struggle against the power of an unfathomable, alien technology.

From the very beginning, it is clear that the Master is somehow involved. By the end, for the Doctors, there may only be darkness...

Really enjoyed this one, basically Day of the Doctor but for the classic Doctors. Great performances as always, though I wasn't a fan of this Master.

Was a little annoyed that the Eighth Doctor didn't remember the events, (most multi-doctor stories the last Doctor remembers,) but that last scene/sequence made up for it!

This wasn't half bad by any measure.  It's a fun an refreshing take on a Doctor crossover, but one much more straightforward an in line with The Three Doctors and The Five Doctors compared to the much more experimental and strange Zagreus.  It's delightful hearing all these Doctors and Companions interacting together.  It does feel like everyone in the story gets their moment in the sun.

Where The Light at the End is weaker is in the meat of the story.  There isn't a lot to the Master's plan and the ending felt pretty empty.  It wasn't that satisfying or felt like the narrative was properly tied up in a way I would have liked.  This is especially true given the long run time of this special audio adventure.  I feel like more could have been done to give this story a little more weight.

The Light At The End".

What a beautiful thing this 50th special, huh my friends 🥺🙂 - Get ready for high doses of nostalgia in a single story that brings together the first 8 Doctors in a magnificent way, also prepare your smile and your emotion for each reference, catchphrase, every moment for every minute.

As much as it may seem a bit cluttered in its initial presentation, its premise is incredibly smart while always keeping fun present with incredible fluidity, the fan services are so effective (in a good way) that it's hard to find faults here. It's impressive all the care the writer took in separating and bringing together all the fragmented pieces distributed with each of the Doctors receiving their own block to eventually come together in an epic way. I was very happy to see the first 3 Doctors being represented, although obviously they are less focused, this is clear because the actors who played them are deceased and the intention of Big Finish was to give more lines and greater attention to the still living actors, which is very understandable. The 1st and the 2nd Doctors pleased me the most, while the 3rd... was okay, I don't know, Tim Treloar doesn't bring me confidence in his imitation.

Besides the Doctors, we have the companions... have I told you that I love Nyssa?? And Charley too?? did I say?? - And the meeting of Peri with Ace, so funny Ace describing the look of each Doctor, teased the outfit of the 6th Doctor "looks like Lee Mead (Joseph)" lol. In summary, until now by far this is the best multi-Doctor story for me, I still think my favorite might be the classic "The Three Doctors" but the title of BEST goes to "The Light At The End".

Once you get over the initial thrill of hearing all your favourite voices in one place, there is not very much to The Light at the End. I love the idea of a multi-Doctor stories, the more the merrier. But I did hope that over the 2 hour running time they would find space for some more plot! The ending is great though, with various Doctors bothering this one poor families’ sleep.
