This time: One more ghost-hunting rodeo! MY SCATTERED AND TOTALLY IRRELEVANT NOTES: This story begins with the TARDIS arriving at a remote, understaffed institute where patients live in fear of the dark and a lone staff member struggles to keep things running. From the outset, the unseen horrors terrorizing the inmates are introduced through a series of tense and gripping sequences. These events reunite the Doctor with Carnacki as they’re forced to remain inside the institute, waiting out the night while unraveling the mystery. The narrative masterfully channels the feel of classic slasher horror films, but with a distinct Doctor Who twist. Its intimate setting and chilling atmosphere create a sense of dread that drives the story forward. One of the most intriguing elements is the inclusion of World War I soldiers—mortally wounded in the trenches and transported to the institute. Their prolonged suffering from shell shock over two decades adds a poignant and haunting layer to the tale, making it as thought-provoking as it is unsettling.
