Yes, that's exactly what you're seeing, you're not mad. Yes, my dear ladies and gentlemen, I have finally decided to open the doors and listen to a story from The Third Doctor Adventures line – For those who don't understand anything, this is one of the BIG FINISH lines which I have always declared that I had closed my doors to, the reason being that whenever I came across the trailers and small snippets available on YouTube of the stories, I always had the impression that NOTHING in this line reminded me of the Pertwee era, so I did not feel the need to consume it. But we see that the tables have turned, haven't they? So much so that my main highlight in this review will be my first impressions with this first contact. Look, compared to other "Adventures" lines (Fourth Doctor Adventures, Ninth, Tenth Doctor Adventures, etc.), this apparently is the best in terms of reviving, of reproducing the era of the Doctor involved (in this case the 3rd) – This ranges from the soundtracks that are very similar to those of the Pertwee arcs, the script mould, the characteristic elements, UNIT, soldiers, investigative tones, the Brigadier's Jeep hahaha these and more elements are very present and very well reproduced. Now talking about the performances, Jon Culshaw has an impeccable performance as the Brigadier, there is not a sentence or expression that does not match the original character, Sadie Miller, daughter of Elisabeth Sladen, surprised me the most, she is indeed her mother written, for most of her performance you feel that "yes, that's Sarah Jane talking", there are few moments of slips. And lastly the main point, Tim Trealor - YES surprised me a lot, indeed his performance as the third incarnation is good, but I still feel divided, there are many moments when I find myself saying "Wow, this guy is the 3rd Doctor written" as I also find myself saying "Nah, this has nothing to do with Pertwee", but overall it is something very audible and much better than I expected given everything that was presented to me, I confess I am hyped to hear more stories from the Third Doctor Adventures. Now talking about the plot of The Devil’s Hoofprints, although it caught my attention quite a bit presenting a promising start, its plot suffers from a fall falling into the same old - UNIT is assigned to review the security on an energy project after some reports of deaths, we meet an experimental laboratory and a megalomaniac scientist along with mysterious footprints in a snowy field. In the end, we have that thing, the scientist is the wicked villain and we have a generic monster with the voice of Nicholas Briggs equalized in the bass hahaha. Nothing different or special.
