Review of The Code of Flesh by MrColdStream

5️⃣🔼 = PASSABLE: AVERAGE!

Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time!

“NOT MY FRANKENSTEIN!”

The Code of Flesh, written by Andrew Lane and narrated by Dan Starkey, is a follow-up to The Scent of Blood, bringing us back to the late 19th century for another adventure with Eight and James MacFarlane.

MacFarlane takes centre stage once again as he begins investigating strange events that eventually make him cross paths with the Doctor again. MacFarlane isn’t an interesting enough character to carry the story. Eight is fine here, even if Starkey’s narration makes him sound like Ten to me.

This is the sort of story that is technically good at describing the setting and atmosphere but lacks hooks to make it stand out. There are some Frankensteinian qualities to this, but none of them is very vivid.
