Review of Royal Blood by Intodrkness

It was a fun and light read. I especially enjoyed the setting of a medieval like planet that still uses remnants from a long gone more advanced time. Wouldn’t mind if it ever got revisited.

The guest cast were characterised very well. Only Bernhardts devotion to his mistress got a bit annoying over time. Emfil was very fun and relatable.

For Clara and the Doctor it is hard to tell how well they are translated over from the screen, since I read the German translation and it has been years since I actually watched an episode in German. Though I do remember thinking it worked quite well, when reading it for the first time.

The changing of perspective (between first and third person) took me a bit out of the flow while reading, but made sense within the narrative. The only problem I had that it felt like the timelines of the different settings didn’t match up. At one point it was mentioned by one character that weeks had passed, but it didn’t feel like the same amount of time had gone by for the other characters in their storyline. For them to meet up again it had to have happened though.

The Glamour the entire trilogy is about  seems to be just another random McGuffin I don’t particularly care about, but that doesn’t really have an effect on my overall opinion of the book.

If you are looking for an entertaining light read, I can really recommend this book.
