Here I go again expressing my feeling of saturation with Dalek stories across all mediums, including TV series, audios, comics, books, and others. Gone are the days when I eagerly awaited encountering the iconic "pepper pots" – it's pretty much a natural cause when you dive into the Expanded Universe, as we start to notice the same "cookie-cutter" formula being repeated on most occasions, following these steps: The Daleks arrive on a planet, impose order, enslave the population, "Exterminate!" here, "Exterminate!" there, there's the Doctor and a resistance group, always resulting in the same outcome, oh of course, someone from this group dies. There, I have summarized countless Dalek stories scattered throughout the vast universe of Doctor Who stories for you. However, there are still positive highlights in Return Of The Daleks, such as the story being directly connected with the spin-off "Dalek Empire" featuring its main characters in the cast, in this case, as I have yet to consume anything from this line, like the 7th Doctor, I parachuted into this event. It is also set on the planet Spiridon seen in Planet Of The Daleks, where the villains seek to acquire the ability of invisibility and rescue an ancient Dalek army underground. [⚠ SPOILER] It's interesting to know that it was the 7th Doctor who was truly responsible for making the Spiridons invisible in the events of the 3rd Doctor's arc [⚠ END OF SPOILERS]. This whole journey, more than predictable about 60 minutes long, is compensated at the end where the 7th Doctor shows once again why he is the darkest incarnation of the Time Lord, also a highlight, for the sensational performance of Sylvester McCoy, the way he embodies a more maniacal version of his character is surrealistically good. Wow! I was almost forgetting to mention the Ogrons, which in fact wouldn't make much difference in their absence in the review, simply because they are always the goofy puppets of the Daleks. In summary, honestly, there is nothing new to add in yet another repeated Dalek plot, unfortunately, there are few stories of this genre that propose to present completely different and innovative ideas. Is it a bad audio? Oh no, it's just more of the same. (Translation generated by AI, so mistakes are possible). KnuppMello View profile Like Liked 0 Open in new window Statistics AVG.
