Synopsis

What connects strange bird behaviour in the skies above a Madagascan beach to mysterious deaths by a deadly virus that seems to be spreading? And what does a famous British astronaut have to do with all of this? Can the Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz solve this puzzle before it's too late?

A solid episode of Doctor Who. Intriguing mystery with the Praxeus virus and some brilliant character moments. Missed opportunity not making it a Sea Devils return though, because this episode's plot would have been perfect for them.

The Praxeus virus mystery with the birds was interesting, but they probably could have done more with the premise, and the Jake moment should probably have been left as a sacrifice rather than the Doctor saving him from the ship last minute.

DOCTOR: Yaz, how are you doing? Cos we've literally got the most exciting rotting bird that I've ever seen.

YASMIN: I don't want you to panic, but we followed one of those things through a teleport, and now I think we're on an alien planet.

DOCTOR: Well, you don't do things by halves.

Transcript Needs checking

DOCTOR [OC]: Planet Earth, early in the third decade of the 21st century. Population, seven billion. Seven billion lives, separate and connected, from the depths of the oceans to the edge of the atmosphere.

[Soyuz capsule]

(Hurtling through the atmosphere.)

ADAM: Soyuz to Control. We have automatic system failure.
CONTROL [OC]: Copy that, Soyuz. Can you switch to ballistic descent and maintain trajectory?
ADAM: Negative. I'm way off course. DMP's failed, and we have to deploy the parachute. (sparks flying) Ah! Control, do you copy?

(Heatshield is glowing.)
