Synopsis

The Cathedral of Contemplation is an enigma, existing outside time. It turns through history, opening its doors across the universe to offer solace to those in need.

Occasionally, the Doctor drops in - when he's avoiding his destiny, it’s an ideal place to get some perspective. Only this time he's already there from several lives earlier, so when dimension barriers break down, his past and present collide.

And when the Daleks invade and commandeer the Cathedral, two Doctors must unite to stop them - or face extermination twice over!

Out of Time - 7/10

This was my first experience with the 4th Doctor on audio and its definitely got me excited to experience more, besides that though this story is quite fun.

The actual plot itself works fine for what it is and as much as I feel like a lot of enemies could have filled the role the Daleks play here I still think they were the right choice. What I will say though is that the whole thing felt quite short but that is very possibly because I've been listening to the first stories of the main range which double this in length most of the time I believe.

The characters all work here none of them were particular memorable but that's not their fault as David Tennant and Tom Baker working together is absolutely wonderful to experience.

The setting of the cathedral provides an interesting backdrop to the story and gives some fun moments at the beginning of the story.

Overall Out of Time gets a 7/10 because I honestly just had a blast with it, story aside Tom and David are brilliant together and made this story just an all round good time for me.

Loved it! All I require from a multi-Doctor story is an actual plot to drive an interesting interaction between our heroes. This story gives us that and as a result is better than most other multi-Doctor efforts. I'm sure I'm not the only who will have seen there as being a genuine bit of character development for both 4 and 10.

The DoctorvDoctor is immensely fun. The rest of the story is just kinda there to make those two meet. Very cute. A nice gap-filler in the continuity. 3/5

I mean, okay, no reason why the Daleks are in the cathedral but it's okay.

A fun Multi-Doctor adventure. The Fourth and Tenth Doctors make for quite a pair, especially considering their differing views on regeneration and morality. I also really like the concept of a cathedral in space with windows to any time; it's a really novel idea, and one that I would love to see explored further in future Big Finish releases.

TENTH DOCTOR: A good friend of mine once said I needed people to stop me. But I get things done on my own.

FOURTH DOCTOR: I shouldn’t need stopping! Other people should be what keep us going!

TENTH DOCTOR: Maybe I thought that once, back when I was you. What keeps me going now are the likes of them - Daleks. The worst things in the universe. There are so many out there, you’ve only scratched the surface. If ever I ask myself “have I the right to do what’s needed to beat them?” You know what I think now?

FOURTH DOCTOR: What?

TENTH DOCTOR: Yes, I do.
