Merry Christmas, Doctor Who is very, very strange. It was made for a laugh and wasn’t intended for the public to watch.

Does it even count as being part of the Doctor Who universe?

In my eyes it does!

While it is basically just a drunk K-9 singing, the minisode is so odd and peculiar I couldn’t help but love it.

It’s just a bit of fun.

MY SCATTERED AND TOTALLY IRRELEVANT NOTES:

This is a 1-minute YouTube video from 1978, created for a BBC gag reel for their Christmas Party. What we get here is Tom Baker serving K9 a drink straight from the bottle and John Leven singing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" in K9’s voice, while Mary Tamm spends the entire clip smiling awkwardly and never uttering a word.

Is it funny? Not particularly. Is it Christmassy? I guess a little. Is it awkward? A bit, yes. Is it essential? Not at all. Is it an interesting piece of Doctor Who-related trivia for your Christmas-themed quiz nights? Well, it could be.

it feels a bit silly writing a review for 1 minute of footage that isn't really relevant at all.

Overall Merry Christmas Doctor Who gets a 4/10? I put the question mark there because I don't even know how to rate something like this but there's my best attempt. if you haven't watched this, I would because it is only a minute and it might even make you smile.

Merry Christmas Doctor Who is just a delightfully silly little short. You can see the chemistry between the leads, and it's always fun to see glimpses into the actor's just goofing off a bit behind the scenes.
