The TARDIS intercepts a strange signal, returning the Doctor and Charley to the Garazone System - where once they had a terrifying encounter with the Cybermen, and foiled a bid to change the course of a terrible android-human war.

Now, people are going missing from all over Garazone Central. The Orion War is far from over, and the Doctor and Charley have landed at the heart of it, again!

The last story in the Charlotte Pollard The Further Adventuress series.

Half an android is recovered by salvagers and the Tardis receives another (somewhat cryptic) distress signal that can only be meant for the Doctor. Meanwhile a police officer is investigating the disappearances and subsequent reappearances of a number of people.

There is quite a lot going on in this audio, and though it was slightly longer about 64ish minutes - the longest in this set - it did feel like a much longer story. So whereas I felt a little short changed by Eclipse, this makes up for it!

Dakota Bly is the police Officer in question, though the reports of the disappearances have been retracted as the missing people have returned. Dakota isn’t convinced as they seem ‘different’ and one being her own daughter.

Comments made in this audio set it fairly early on in the Doctor and Charleys time together. The fact that this is called Heart of Orion and one of their early releases was Sword of Orion does mean that this harks back to it. I’ve not listened to it since its release and this (set) does make me want to go back and relisten to those early adventures. But don’t worry if you’ve not heard it, its pretty much covered in this audio.

There are a couple of twists and ethical conundrums here. And you are kept in suspense at the fate of one of the characters. I enjoyed the fact that a it didn’t quite pan out as I’d thought, which made a nice change.

The use of regional accents is something I’m fond of, and this set has made use of them.

Its the strongest outing in The Further Adventuress set.
