This is the fifth part of the animated webcast Daleks! and can be found on YouTube.

The last two Daleks - the Emperor and Strategist arrive back on Skaro, but the Mechanoids are not far behind.

A bit more action orientated episode. Its starts with the Dalek ship crashing into the ground - its a nice shot, but its the kind of shot that’s been seen many times in sci fi. This does have a cinematic feel to it; as does the series as a whole.

Its hardly a spoiler but the Daleks are not quite as depleted as they led the Mechanoids to believe, once again displaying their cold blooded nature. Another deception - but the Daleks seem to have a knack for it.

The entity makes an appearance, albeit briefly. Its not explained who or what the Entity is in the series. But the short story in the Eaglemoss figurine collection - The Restoration Empire, mentions its the Slave of the Hond, the Hond I believe features in the TLV comic Defender of the Daleks.

All in all I enjoyed the series and wouldn’t mind more.

📝7/10 = SLIGHTLY ENJOYABLE!

Time Lording through time and space, one victory at a time! This time: showtime of the Daleks, part V!

The fifth and final episode of the Daleks! series sees the Daleks battle the Mechanoids on home soil. The animation allows for an epic battle between the two races, with countless Daleks and Mechanoids firing at each other while explosions destroy Skaro around them. While this is happening, the Dalek Strategist decides to play his own game and go against the Emperor, working with the Mechanoid leadership to send the Emperor back to the Dark Times. This leads to the next part of the storyline, told on the pages of Titan Comics.

I'm kind of thinking of the whole of 'Daleks!' as one story, so, will collect my thoughts on the series here. I thought the mechanoid voice acting was excellent, but the animation style was really not my thing. The whole "beautiful" idea was intriguing - the Mechanoids calling technology and synchronicity beautiful, showing they had real emotions beyond Dalek hate, whilst what the Daleks found beautiful was their enemies' destruction. A mostly well-written series (not counting one episode that I feel really let the series down) that always made me excited for the next part of the story while still feeling like it had a satisfying ending. There were even gripping relationship dynamics explored well, which I didn't see coming in a miniseries about some Daleks fighting - I loved how the Dalek-Mechanoid relationships felt like the Mechanoids were trying to broaden Dalek horizons, make them see beauty, but in the end, a Dalek can never know friendship or love, because a Dalek knows only hate. Doomed from the start - we should have known things would end this way. Daleks don't change. Daleks don't see beauty beyond destruction.

A lovely series that is well worth the watch - 4/5.

I don't really get it.  If the Mechanoids were just going to attack right away why did they let what they thought were the last two Daleks just leave back to Skaro?  It felt like forced writing just to have the final episode take place there.  It took me out of the story a bit and blunted the excitement for this final battle quite a bit.  Plus, the animation was just barely okay for something this big and ambitious.  It probably looks better than if they tried something like this in live-action, but only just barely so.  It doesn't feel that satisfying, nor does it seem that tied into the Time Lord Victorious stuff.  It is really just setting up another story just at the end and otherwise only kind of vaguely incorporating other ideas into this story.  So Daleks! doesn't really work on its own nor does it really work as part of something bigger, as far as I can tell.

There are advantages to being one or another, but doing neither made me feel that this doesn't even seem thematically relevant and I just struggle to get excited about something like that when the story as it stands alone, isn't all that great to begin with at the end of the day.  The first episode looked promising but the rest of the series just doesn't quite live up to that, and I don't think I would recommend this thing, even if it had so much potential.  This is likely my favourite take on a Dalek Emperor and the Strategist and Executioner were also both top-tier.  I wish the story and animation could have led up to the potential of their designs and characters because those and the Mechanoids were pretty entertaining.  I found this ending very underwhelming in practice, though.

Wow, this one was really cool. Daleks v Mechanoids on Skaro! What more could you ask for? Also: the Dalek Emperor is a total badass, and has fast become my favourite Dalek of them all.
