It's hard to believe that such a One-Shot Story can be told nowadays, but my God, this one was beautiful.

It's a very simple Story (after all, it's only 8 Pages), but it uses each of its Panels to its fullest Potential. Gray gets the Medium of Comic like no other, this is best shown in the penultimate Page of this Comic, where we get only 3 Panels with Dialogue, the others are all without any Dialogues. While I adore this Dialogue to Pieces, it's those wonderful Drawings that always gets me with this one. Despite no exchange, you know exactly what they both think or feel at that Moment.

Of course Scott Gray gets a lot of the Flowers for his amazing Work at DWM, deservedly so, but I also want to highlight the superb Work by Martin Geraghtly & Robin Smith, who make this have gorgeous Visuals.

I didn't even mention how this Story really does a lot for Izzy, I know she is by far not as popular as many other Eight Companions (thanks partially to her less than stellar Role in the Company of Friends Story), but I think she is excellent, especially here. Really, what can I say more? This is just a superb Character Piece!

A simple story, but wow, it is effective. Great extension for Izzy's character, as she comes to terms with what has happened, with some wonderful character work from the Eighth Doctor to compliment this well.

It would be difficult to imagine any Doctor Who comic now having the freedom that DWM had in 2001.Izzy’s body has permanently changed to that of an amphibian! Removing the guardrails of having to fit into a broader narrative makes this comic the main show.

They use this change to tell us something about The Doctor’s changing experience of the world, but also how it differs from the experience of someone who this is not meant to happen to. It’s a really thought provoking one shot.
