After hearing what Geoffrey Beevers can do as the Master in the audio adventure titled Master, I was very excited for this one. Sadly, And You Will Obey Me didn't leave much of an impression on me at all. It wasn't bad, just dull, but in a lot of ways I'd much rather a memorable bad story than one that left me with nothing at all. There are some great scenes with the Master corrupting those children, but the whole idea of his TARDIS up for auction really feels like it meanders as a plot point. By the time that evolves into a bunch of aliens chasing after the Master, I was really disappointed on the whole. So it's not an audio without any value at all - Beevers kind of carries this audio - but it did leave me lacking. Aside from the introductory scenes Peter Davison's Doctor hardly stood out at all. It feels like a real shame as I believe this story should have been great. dema1020 View profile Like Liked 1 17 August 2024 · 212 words Review by thedefinitearticle63 Spoilers 1 This review contains spoilers! This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order. Previous Story: The Awakening For a Master who only really showed up in one serial on TV, Geoffrey Beevers is phenomenal. Big Finish has easily turned him into one of my favourite Masters and stories like this are why. The focus here is very much on the Master and less so on the Doctor, so I don't have much to say about the Doctor here. From the start you're hooked by the mystery of why the Master's TARDIS is up for auction and why so many people are interested in it. It's atmospheric and exciting and full of twists and turns all throughout that keep you engaged. I like the group of kids that bumped into the Master, they all feel like genuine people and their story is quite tragic. It's satisfying to see it all come together at the end as it's revealed how all the characters fit into the puzzle. 5 is a bit boring here, but that's really the only bad thing I have to say about this story. This is a highlight of the Beevers' Master and if I'm being honest it's a highlight of the Master as a whole.
