A big step down from the premier episodes, generic aliens, and no explanation for them. Not my favorite episode.
I did find the part with Lucie and her Aunt interesting though. I wonder if that'll come back in the future.

(This is a review for both parts 1 and 2)
For a fresh start for the Eight Doctor, we have a new format based off of NuWho! I enjoyed the shorter and more action filled pace of the story, (though I guess it being a 2 parter made it the same length as the older episodes, regardless though it felt quicker.)
Paul McGann was amazing as always. I love how the Doctor seems to be more sarcastic than usual (and has some great quips.) I wonder if his (slight) personality changes were from the events of Charley's arc.
Sheridan Smith was pretty great as well, though I haven't warmed up to Lucie Miller yet. But I do like how she's a mix of Rose and Donna.
Overall, great story. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in starting Big Finish or the Eighth Doctor. Storm Warning was great, but I think the more modern approach of this might appeal to new ones more.

A good ending, not on the level of the tv finales, but still good. I shall miss Charlie. The quality difference between this and the previous ten or so is quite staggering. This was excellent, especially the first two parts.
My only negatives was that I got lost between the third and fourth parts. I wasn't really sure what the cyber worm thing was, it seemed like it came out of nowhere, and the last Byron part was confusing.
I think I just have to listen to these longer adventures all at once next time instead of breaking them up.

Skip this one, this left a really bad taste in my mouth after a fairly strong run of episodes. Only the last 5 minutes matters. Long story short: C'rizz dies, the Doctor and Charley have a falling out, and Charley wants to leave.
Well that was a great audio! I'd listened to the first episode before, so it took a bit to get into, but solid. Good acting and some interesting concepts. I wonder though if this was a leftover script from the Divergent Universe Arc, it feels like one of those stories
(Disclaimer: I'm writing this right after finishing listening, so I haven't sorted out my thought on it yet, may come back and update this review later.)
A perfectly average story. It was interesting seeing/hearing a story in this time period. Don't know how much impact this will have on future stories, other than C'rizz story.
A fun little adventure for the Eighth Doctor and Charley. The role reversal was pretty funny. Plus it's free!
A decent ish end to the Divergent Universe arc. I agree with others that it's an hour too long. Looking forward to getting back to the normal universe next.

This was really good! Three McGann's, Cuckoo clocks, and the Doctor stuck in an infinite maze of offices for every little thing lol. I also enjoyed Charlie in this story, I emphasize with her frustrations with the Doctor, I'm curious how that'll effect their relationship down the road.
Would recommend.
A decent story in the Divergent Universe arc. Not particularly interesting, but some good acting from Paul McGann and India Fisher. Not sure if this one is crucial to the plot or not? Haven't listened to The Creed of the Kormon yet, so not sure.
An excellent and tense serial with the Daleks. Season 17 is shaping up to be a great season.
Overall a pretty good audio. This was only my third 7th doctor story, (including the show,) so I'm still pretty new to the duo. It was fun hearing David Tennant in this before he came the Doctor. And the Doctor was unknowingly up to some shenanigans :)
I will say that I had a little more trouble following along with this than previous audios. Not sure if it was something specific with this audio, or if it was because I had to listen to it in a different environment/situation than normal.
Despite that, I would be willing to listen to this again.
DNF 50%
After a great season of Eighth doctor audios, I was really looking forward to the "season finale". However, after over 2 hours of listening, (only half way through,) I just can't finish it. After the strong opening, it's just an incoherent mess. So many characters are thrown in, and random settings and stories that have nothing to do with the main plot take precedence. If it had an hour or two shaved off its runtime, I think it would have been a story I'd enjoy.
Unfortunately, it felt like a waste of an afternoon. Hopefully Scherzo will be better, and it's only 2 hours.
I'll never complain about the length of a classic Who serial again, lol.
Oh, where to start...
That was probably the worst book to start off in my Doctor Who reading journey. Without spoiling anything, it just felt, too silly and out there. I know that's a hallmark of Who, but this took it to a bit of an extreme. The writing style was a bit to simplistic for me as well.
I did appreciate the research that went into the book, as well as spending some more time with the tenth doctor, (even if he felt slightly out of character.)
The companion, June, was at times interesting and at others annoying/poorly written.
2 stars for me, would only recommend if you want to finish all the books, or like the Slitheen.
Up next, either Engines of War or another book on my TBR list!
Chronological placement:
Between Series 4 and the specials

For Whovians or those in search of a good audio drama, "Spare Parts," featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa, is a great audio drama. Personally, I might like it better than "The Tenth Planet" and "World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls." (It also serves as a prelude to those eps as well.) Chilling, eerie, creepy, and great performances.
It was also my first serial with Peter Davison's Doctor, enjoyed him quite a bit, looking forward to watching his television run.
Great start to the story. It was funny that I just watched the doctor who story that this is related to.
Though I didn't realize that it was a multi part story, so now I guess I'll need to buy the rest :/

Interesting start for the Eight Doctor. Not a big fan of the eight doctor yet, but it was interesting enough for me to want to continue. The alien voices were quite annoying though. But I am interested in the plot development of the Doctor taking Charley out of her time and cheating her death.
Wow, that was excellent! After Storm Warning and Sword of Orion, I wasn't expecting much, but this story is excellent in almost every way.
Very creepy atmosphere, but very intriguing and I love the arc that's developing for Charlie
Honestly, I'm not sure what I just listened to. Thirty minutes was far too short for me to grasp what the Word Lord actually was. I think it was a great and unique concept, (from what I understood,) which I'd like to see again, but this story didn't quite cut it for me. Should've at least been 45 minutes or longer. (Pun intended)
On the bright side, this was my first introduction to Seven, Ace, and Hex. Overall I really enjoyed their dynamics in this story and am excited to check out their classic episodes and audios.
2.5/5
