Review of The Nemonite Invasion by tardis-technician

This was a fun listen. Nothing super special, but a good time. The biggest issue was that it was about half an hour longer than it needed to be, and it would’ve done better without a third of the cast. It was still enjoyable though. Donna gets her own companion, the Doctor has a classic Moral Dilemma, and there’s a cute moment between the two of them at the end.

Review of The Eyeless by tardis-technician

A lot of what makes this book so great is its mystery, so I don’t want to say too much. I will say that it’s set in the tenth Doctor specials era, probably immediately before or after Waters of Mars, and the Doctor is not well. I basically read this in one sitting. There's no companion for the Doctor to really bounce off of for a lot of this book, so we spend a lot of time just in his head, and boy is it a mess in there (in the most interesting possible way). Highly recommend.

Review of Beautiful Chaos by tardis-technician

God this book was so good. Really incredible insight into Donna’s family, her relationships, and how the Doctor fits into her life. The Doctor and Donna are written beautifully in this book. The side characters all shine as well, including Wilf and, surprisingly, Sylvia. Netty, who’s introduced in this book, owns my whole heart. This book has the same type of crazy alien shenanigans most Doctor Who has, but it was also a lot more down to earth. Everything going on was really just an excuse to do a bit of character study, and it works wonderfully. This is hands down one of my favorite Doctor Who books.

Review of In the Blood by tardis-technician

This book made me nuts. I don’t even know where to start. The Doctor and Donna book of all time. First of all, no one understands the Doctor and Donna like Jenny T. Colgan understands the Doctor and Donna. There is so much going on here. If I’d read this before the 60th specials I think it would’ve broken me. I don’t really know what to say about this book other than it’s hands down my favorite Doctor Who book of all time. There were moments I had to pause and re-read a line because it was that much of a banger. I was literally grinning like an idiot through a third of this book. Perfect mix of humor, drama, and action. Amazing interactions between the Doctor and Donna. If you love the two of them, this is the book for you.

Review of The Doctor Trap by tardis-technician

24 December 2024

This book was so fun and fast-paced and weird, I loved it. There were legitimately moments I laughed out loud. This was just such an insanely wacky adventure. It never would have worked in the show, but my god was it amazing in a book.

Review of The Many Hands by tardis-technician

If I had a nickel for every time the Doctor told something to kill him, then twenty minutes later climbed up on a high structure and got electrocuted, I’d have two nickels (but it's weird that it's happened twice)

Review of Forever Autumn by tardis-technician

The idea, which was more or less to have a Halloween episode, was a fun one. However, the pacing dragged on, and the Doctor and Martha both felt a little out of character at several points.

Review of The Last Dodo by tardis-technician

A fun (relatively) low-stress adventure. The Doctor and Martha play I-Spy in real life while also looking for poachers from space. This was just a solid Doctor and Martha adventure. It was basically like if season 3 had a more low-stakes episode à la Unicorn and the Wasp. There were a few more serious moments as well, and those were great. Overall this was an enjoyable read!
