I don't have much to say on it. It felt surprisingly short, and I think it suffered for it. Nonetheless, it managed to kind of drag on in parts. And it was much too fleshy for me. The concept is interesting, but I don't think it was executed very well. I'm not in a position to judge audio design right now, but it felt like a downgrade to me. Three stars. snakesontoast View profile Like Liked 1 1 July 2025 New· · 180 words P.R.O.B.E. • Episode 2The Devil of Winterborne snakesontoast 2 Review of The Devil of Winterborne by snakesontoast 1 July 2025 We see a lot more of Liz in this one than in the first. She's really given proper time to shine. And finally people call her Dr Shaw! I especially liked her scenes with Patsy. For reasons. No I'm not giggling and kicking my feet what are you talking about. Ok but seriously I love their dynamic and I think it adds a lot to Liz's character. The plot here made loads more sense than in The Zero Imperative, though again I didn't quite get the ending. The audio seemed quite a bit better. And the visuals improved as well, I think? I'm not the kind of person who notices those things. The acting was very good here. Caroline John and Louise Jameson were amazing as always, and we have a strong performance from Peter Davison. It's definitely a bit grisly — especially at the start, I can't say the disabled character was handled particularly well, and I'm not entirely sure I like the implications of Christian being queer. What with the murders. Definitely my favorite BBV film as yet. snakesontoast View profile Like Liked 2 28 June 2025 · 198 words P.R.O.B.E. • Episode 1The Zero Imperative snakesontoast 3 Review of The Zero Imperative by snakesontoast 28 June 2025 I enjoyed this one quite a bit! I wasn't sure what to expect going in, despite the mostly positive reviews, considering BBV's other output. I'd previously heard a decent bit about PROBE, mostly for either a) being the spinoff that gave Liz Shaw a wife or the more recent ones being absolutely dreadful. I will admit the first of those definitely colored my enjoyment. I dont know I ship it, probably, what you you want from me. Definitely had me smiling at things I likely wouldn't have otherwise. The audio and visuals were... not great, but that's about what I've come to expect from BBV. The plot made sense for the most part! It fell apart a bit at the end, though. And finally, the acting. It was very strong for a BBV film. It may come as no surprise to hear that the highlights of the entire film for me were the lovely Caroline John and Louise Jameson. Caroline John is wonderful as always and Louise Jameson is possibly my favorite actor in the whoniverse, nay, at all. I'm not sure I'm capable of disliking her performance. Four stars! Dethroning Zygon as my favorite of the BBVs. snakesontoast View profile Like Liked 3 22 June 2025 · 173 words Counter-Measures S1 • Episode 1Threshold snakesontoast 5 Review of Threshold by snakesontoast 22 June 2025 So, episode one. I don't really have much to say on the plot. It's a nice little mystery, but not particularly remarkable. Not the most polished of audio, but that could possibly just have been because I had the volume up high to hear over the air conditioning? I really don't like how the doll sounds. Sometimes the background music was a bit loud. The characters are the highlight of the story. They're all well defined and compliment each other nicely. I continue to be in love with Professor Rachel Jensen. Doctor Allison Williams, also. This story, as well as the Counter Measures stories in The Worlds of Doctor Who and The Legacy of Time, have helped me to understand Gilmore's character a little better. We're also introduced to Sir Toby Kinsella, who seems interesting, though I haven't seen enough of him to judge beyond that. All over, not the best thing I've ever heard, but certainly doesn't kill my hopes for the series, not even a little bit. Nice introduction. Solid 4 stars. snakesontoast View profile Like Liked 5 20 June 2025 · 47 words The Sarah Jane Adventures S5 • Episode 3-4The Curse of Clyde Langer snakesontoast Spoilers 2 Review of The Curse of Clyde Langer by snakesontoast 20 June 2025 This review contains spoilers! This is a really good episode, but seeing as the whole plot revolves around mystical Native American bs, I really can't rate it more than three stars. Disappointing (To clarify, if there's any ambiguity: this isn't me being racist or something, I'm native, it makes me uncomfortable.) snakesontoast View profile Like Liked 2 Sorting and filtering coming soon!
