Review of Flip-Flop by mistwhisper117
It's a fascinating concept and execution for a story. It might have worked better visually, but it all came together in the end and made sense. Hard to say much of anything else without spoilers. The Slithergees were infuriating though. Eventually, you have to put your foot down sometime.
Review of Doctor Who and the Pirates by mistwhisper117
Having this story related by Evelyn Smythe and The Sixth Doctor relating one of their adventures to another person was fun. It allowed for backtracking and corrections in the retelling as their listener pointed out flaws in their narration. The musical bits were a fun addition as well, though perhaps there was a song of two too many. While Evelyn’s character was frustrating at times with her mysteriousness in the retelling (to serve the overarching story), the ultimate payoff was perhaps worth it.
Review of Creatures of Beauty by mistwhisper117
I am a fan of non-linear narrative, and I think the telling worked mostly well. It adds weight to the story at the end upon finding out how the chain of events links together. Nicholas Briggs can be a mixed bag for me, but this was one of his better ones. But that could be mostly due to the non-linear narrative, which does need closer paying attention than if the story was told linearly. Briggs does over-emphasize mentions of beauty and ugliness in his script, and some of his characters seem unnecessarily overbearing. But The Fifth Doctor and Nyssa are overall enjoyable in this tale.
