I liked a lot of the concepts in this story and the political side of it all but i have to criticize the way leela was treated here. It was very uncomfortable listening to the exotic dancer stuff. Yes, it was portrayed as something that should make the listener uncomfortable but at times it felt as though Leela was the butt of the joke. This entire story was just a bit painful to listen to because i felt so horrible for Leela.
I do love time shenanigans though! The time loop parts were genuinely very interesting and I’m excited to listen to the next story.

This is genuinely a really good introduction to these characters, theyre all really well characterized and distinct! Especially Leela, I think she’s the most interesting so far. K9 is adorable as well! I ended up listening to this twice because I’m not great at audio stories and this one requires you to pay close attention but I’m glad I listened to it a second time. While it isn’t perfect, Weapon of Choice is a very good pilot and does exactly what a pilot should. It effectively sets up the characters and establishes the overarching idea of Romana’s political reforms facing backlash. I absolutely adore morally questionable gallifreyans so I’m very glad i finally started this since I’ve been hearing about it for years.
