DALEK: You will obey or she will be exterminated.

DOCTOR: No.

DALEK: Explain yourself.

DOCTOR: I said no.

DALEK: What is the meaning of this negative?

DOCTOR: It means no.

DALEK: But she will be destroyed.

DOCTOR: No! Because this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to rescue her. I'm going to save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet. And then I'm going to save the Earth, and then, just to finish off, I'm going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!

DALEK: But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan.

DOCTOR: Yeah. And doesn't that scare you to death. Rose?

ROSE: Yes, Doctor?

DOCTOR: I'm coming to get you.

JACK: According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. Have you got that?

DOCTOR: Excuse me. Who's in charge?

JACK: Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir.

DOCTOR: Right, here's the plan. (pause) Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?

IDRIS: The Lord Mayor says thank you for popping by. She'd love to have a chat, but, er, she's up to her eyes in paperwork. Perhaps if you could make an appointment for next week?

DOCTOR: She's climbing out of the window, isn't she?

IDRIS: Yes, she is.

DOCTOR: Everybody lives, Rose. Just this once, everybody lives!

DOCTOR: Mister Spock?

ROSE: What was I supposed to say? You don't have a name. Don't you ever get tired of Doctor? Doctor who?

DOCTOR: Nine centuries in, I'm coping.

DOCTOR: You know, one day, just one day, maybe, I'm going to meet someone who gets the whole ‘don't wander off’ thing. Nine hundred years of phone box travel, it's the only thing left to surprise me.

ROSE: So all the people on Earth are like, slaves.

EDITOR: Well, now, there’s an interesting point. Is a slave a slave if he doesn’t know he’s enslaved?

DOCTOR: Yes.

EDITOR: Oh. I was hoping for a philosophical debate. Is that all I’m going to get? Yes?

DOCTOR: Yes.

EDITOR: You’re no fun.

VAN STATTEN: We're hidden away with the most valuable collection of extra-terrestrial artefacts in the world, and you just stumbled in by mistake.

DOCTOR: Pretty much sums me up, yeah.

DOCTOR: This is my life, Jackie. It’s not fun, it’s not smart, it’s just standing up and making a decision because nobody else will.

ROSE: Every conversation with you just goes mental. There's no one else I can talk to. I've seen all that stuff up there, the size of it, and I can't say a word. Aliens and spaceships and things, and I'm the only person on planet Earth who knows they exist.

DOCTOR: Honestly, Charles... Can I call you Charles? I'm such a big fan!

CHARLES DICKENS: Uh, you're a what? A big what?

DOCTOR: Fan! Number one fan, that's me!

CHARLES DICKENS: How exactly are you a "fan"? In what way do you resemble a means of keeping oneself cool?

DOCTOR: I saw the Fall of Troy! World War Five! I pushed boxes at the Boston Tea Party, and now I'm gonna die in a dungeon... in Cardiff!

ROSE: But, it's like, think about it, though. Christmas. 1860. Happens once, just once and it's gone, it's finished, it'll never happen again. Except for you. You can go back and see days that are dead and gone a hundred thousand sunsets ago. No wonder you never stay still.

DICKENS: There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy. Even for you, Doctor.

DOCTOR: You think it'll last forever, people and cars and concrete, but it won't. One day it's all gone. Even the sky. My planet's gone. It's dead. It burned like the Earth. It's just rocks and dust before its time.

ROSE: What happened?

DOCTOR: There was a war and we lost.

ROSE: A war with who? What about your people?

DOCTOR: I'm a Time Lord. I'm the last of the Time Lords. They're all gone. I'm the only survivor. I'm left travelling on my own 'cos there's no one else.

ROSE: There's me.

ROSE: They all speak English.

DOCTOR: No, you just hear English. It's a gift of the TARDIS. The telepathic field, gets inside your brain and translates.

ROSE: It's inside my brain?

DOCTOR: Well, in a good way.

ROSE: Your machine gets inside my head. It gets inside and it changes my mind, and you didn't even ask?

DOCTOR: I didn't think about it like that.

DOCTOR: The paper's slightly psychic. It shows them whatever I want them to see. Saves a lot of time.

ROSE: You think you're so impressive.

DOCTOR: I am so impressive.

ROSE: You wish.

DOCTOR: I was on board another ship once. They said that was unsinkable. I ended up clinging to an iceberg. It wasn't half cold.

DOCTOR: You lot, you spend all your time thinking about dying, like you're going to get killed by eggs or beef or global warming or asteroids. But you never take time to imagine the impossible, that maybe you survive. This is the year five point five slash apple slash twenty six. Five billion years in your future, and this is the day- hold on - this is the day the Sun expands. Welcome to the end of the world.

DOCTOR: (About the TARDIS) The assembled hordes of Genghis Khan couldn't get through that door, and believe me, they've tried.

DOCTOR: Do you know like we were saying about the Earth revolving? It's like when you were a kid. The first time they tell you the world's turning and you just can't quite believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it. The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, and the entire planet is hurtling round the sun at sixty seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it.
