Review of The Ambassadors of Death (BBC Audio Soundtrack) by SteffiJen

2 May 2025

I much preferred listening to the soundtrack version of this story to watching the original tv version. It seemed to be less clunky and drew me in better. The narration fitted well with the original soundtrack and I do still love that eerie music that is used as the Ambassadors theme.

Review of The Krotons (BBC Audio Soundtrack) by SteffiJen

27 April 2025

I preferred hearing just the soundtrack, with its additional narration, to watching the original tv story. It seemed faster moving and more exciting. I could remember bits of the visuals with my imagination filling in the rest so I think that helped to add depth to the story.

Review of Illegal Alien by SteffiJen

26 April 2025

Absolutely loved this story! I borrowed the audiobook version from the library and Sophie Aldred's narration is spot on, all the way through. The story itself is well paced and makes excellent use of its wartime setting to create an exciting, atmospheric listen.

Review of Doctor Who: The Five Doctors by SteffiJen

13 April 2025

Loved this, mainly I think because I listened to Jon Culshaw reading the audio version (borrowed from the library) and he captured the characters' voices so well. I especially enjoyed hearing the Brigadier again, and the conversations between the various Doctors. Great audiobook!

Review of Prison in Space by SteffiJen

1 April 2025

An interesting idea overall, but with some grating choices on the part of the author. Women rule the world, yet their uniform of choice is rubber catsuits? Hmmm!

Review of The Lost Angel by SteffiJen

25 March 2025

Not a bad story in itself, but ruined for me by the bizarre way the Doctor was voiced. The narrator's accent for him swings wildly across most of the Celtic nations.

Review of Rhythm of Destruction by SteffiJen

14 March 2025

I borrowed Rhythm Of Destruction as an e-audiobook from the library. Dan Starkey's narration is excellent and I will certainly look out for more of his audiobooks. The story itself was entertaining and reminded me a little of a moment in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, albeit with a jazz band in lieu of rock.

Review of Regeneration Impossible by SteffiJen

2 February 2025

An ok story which kept me entertained. I loved, however, how Jacob Dudman captured each of the Doctors' voices and characters. I'll definitely be looking out for more stories performed by this narrator!

Bleak, but utterly compelling! Peter Purves does the Doctor brilliantly.

Review of Joy to the World by SteffiJen

25 December 2024

This review contains spoilers!

Good, but too sentimental for me towards the end. I did love Ncuti throughout the story, but I felt that Anita came across as a more developed character than Joy and she had a stronger chemistry with the Doctor which unbalanced the relationships aspect.

Lots of fun Moffat touches and observations which I enjoyed. I'll probably watch this again soon as, overall, it was fun.
