Review of The Bounty of Ceres by Reck

25 December 2024

This was wonderful, more of my speed, personally. My favourite of this range so far. The story's atmosphere and performances were great (Peter Purves was especially good). I was quite fond of the side characters here: Qureshi, Moreland, and Thorn. The buildup for the first 3 parts had me very keen.

I will admit though, that the last part was strangely paced and a little rushed. Saw part of the twist coming. Not the "why" though, so I imagined that an interesting explanation would make up for the deliberateness of the obvious. It didn't really, but still, it was a good story.

Review of Minuet in Hell by Reck

25 December 2024

This review contains spoilers!

Nicholas Courtney as Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, the beloved Brigadier, such class. A delight to my ears. Tbh he is why I managed to enjoy this at all—a very dull story. The accents weren't great, a little distracting. The Doctor spends most of the time incapacitated which was frustrating, but I was hoping something interesting would happen with that, and Crane. But nope, it was building towards nothing. Just a distraction so the doctor could sit this one out for 3 parts.

Random. But, the last few bits that the Doctor and Alistair share are beautiful.

5/10
