I mean maybe that was js me but like The Doctor js stealing someone and giving them a good talking too doesn't seem that believable but, eh, whatever. I can't tell if Kate releasing that alien to attack it is in character for her but maybe this is setting up her spin-off and it'll be about her slowly going extremist. Although, I would have the same reaction if someone disrespected my father, who saved the world multiple times (love you Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart). Conrad tweaked me out to no degree? Man child who refuses to believe the genuine truth no matter what happens. But I couldn't really tell if he believed in aliens and just wanted power, or genuinely didn't believe in aliens? I liked the exploration of Ruby having possible PTSD, better than her becoming a soldier for UNIT like most of his previous companions. Costume & Set: Again, really not much to say. Can't tell if I'm a fan of Ruby's haircut or not. Story: Was that Conrad being abused? Didn't expect to see that. Classic child meeting The Doctor and following sightings of him across their adult life. The scene of Ruby and The Doctor seemed like a episode that could've been, hoping for more episodes next season. Ruby's family appearance, not much to say but like I enjoyed it. Kate Lethbridge-Stewart appearance AHHHH ILY KATE. Although I think it is too soon to have her appear again, especially with her about to be in a spinoff. But whatever, her (basically) confirmed being in love with a man has ruined my day /exag. Where's osgood. Make her lesbian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "There are no shreek, no cybermen, no sycorax, no yeti in the underground." Are you so fr right now?? How much proof does one need?? Conspiracy theorists are gonna say this is silencing them or something. There are actual valid criticisms about UNIT but yeah okay fake aliens I guess? Not the limitless funding and little oversight it has, makes sense to me /sarc. AND PEOPLE AGREEING WITH THIS GUY?? Calling him innocent and saying he should be freed, nobody would fall for this irl (Actually, yeah, people would). God how stupid can the general public be. And releasing UNIT employees adresses, that's grounds for arrest? Why'd nobody arrest him? Insulting Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart is crazy? I'd crash out too Kate and release that monster on him, it should've eaten him. Public sentiment turning in UNIT's favour is also pretty insane but okay we'll move. Ruby needs that break geez, and once again Ms. Flood's episode appearance. Comparison: So much better than the other Ruby Sunday centred episode (73 yards) oh my god. Probably also one of the best Fifteenth Doctor episodes, they are on a roll with these. You've got the military type who takes control, causes issues then dies and the character who tries to be a companion-like character than dies. The Doctor seemed much more in character this episode than the past few. I didn't really feel for the survivor who spoke sign language, not sure why just weren't feeling it. Costume & Set: Not much to say, kinda unbelievable the TARDIS had the exact outfits they'd need but you could chalk that up to some sort of outfit period appropriate wardrobe mechanism circuit the TARDIS has, or some other techno babble. Cool set, but again, not much to say. Story: Hey! Use of psychic paper! Is that the first use of the Fifteenth Doctor or am I forgetting something? Whatever. Not really many comments for this part of the episode. I will say the shadow figure behind the survivor actually scared me, I had goosebumps for a majority of the episode. Now for the part everyone's talking about; It being a sequel to Midnight, unfortunately, I went into this episode having seen that theory and was really convinced. Unfortunately, I hated it, in my opinion it was unnecessary because... the entity acts nothing like the Midnight entity and I do get that it's meant to have evolved but - What's the point of making it the same entity if it's evolved and acts nothing like the Midnight entity? I still like it but it really didn't need to be a sequel to Midnight. Ignoring that, the scene where The Doctor realises is actually really good. Some pacing issues with the girl who sacrificed herself, I expected her and The Doctor to talk a little but whatever, not a huge issue. Ms. Flood's appearance once more, oh right, and the fact Earth has been erased post 2025, very very interesting! Earth and humanity are extremely important to... everything so I'm wondering how this changes things. And finally the classic horror movie twist, the killer is alive! I thought that may happen. Very unfortunate, how long ago was Midnight? 17 years ago. Right, okay. See you guys in 17 years for part 3? /hj Comparison: Solid episode. Probably one of, if not they, best Fifteenth Doctor episode. Shows Three's character pretty well. The side characters hold pretty strongly too, the lack of any actual racism from them seems a little unbelievable to me, and I adore Mr. Ring-a-ding. The Mr. Pie guy was a great character, genuinely felt for him and how Mr. Ring-a-ding had manipulated him, his death was fairly sad. Costume & Set: Lovely costuming and set, it did feel typical 1950s and as a lesbian I can safely say I'm in love with Belinda and her outfit this episode. Maybe not a costume but I don't really have a rubberhose animation section to say Mr. Ring-a-ding's animation was amazing, much better than I expected. Story: Amazing cold opening. The diner scene and brief mention of segregation without much actual racism being shown was a little eh. But either way, onto the cartoon of the hour, Mr. Ring-a-ding. Now, as a hater of The Pantheon and how its being handled, I can't say I liked the Mr. Ring-a-ding being the God of Light reveal, the pantheon just seem too easily defeated. The Toymaker worked because rules were set up; Game defeat. Maestro worked... well enough because of the chord being set up, but for Mr. Ring-a-ding no rules got set up to defeat him. It seemed like a cop out to have him become light but I guess I can accept it, I loved the Toymaker laugh reveal it was bone chilling. Very meta episode, fans of The Doctor appearing and all agreeing on Blink kinda seems unrealistic. Nowadays Day of The Doctor and Heaven Sent seem like the likely answer (or Hell Bent for me cough cough, but I'm just a sucker for Gallifrey actually being shown), and the fact Fifteen knew which of his adventures were episodes? Maybe a subtle fourth wall break, maybe a mistake. I loved the brief animated segment but I did hate how they've already revealed, again, that The Doctor is the last of the Timelords. Better than Ruby's episode where he just lore drops it all. Ms. Flood's typical apperance confirming she, at least, has some form of time travel. All around it was a pretty good episode. Adds a little fire to the trapped in a TV Show theory, hoping the theorys true. Not a 5/5, but still good nonetheless. Probably one of the best Fifteenth Doctor episode. But I find the idea that 27th Century humans haven't figured out how to use Dalek weapons they've had for 200 years a little unbelievable PoppyLovesDrWho View profile Like Liked 0 20 April 2025 · 28 words Dalek AnnualsInvasion of the Daleks PoppyLovesDrWho Review of Invasion of the Daleks by PoppyLovesDrWho 20 April 2025 found it suprisingly good. I also like seeing how different the characterisation is of the Daleks in this story compared to the future. PoppyLovesDrWho View profile Like Liked 0 Sorting, filtering, and pagination, coming soon!
