Review of Babblesphere by Kazekun

I also quite enjoyed this adventure, it was a lot more exciting and the opening of the story where we get the description of the setting is actually really, really fun. I like how much the story focuses in Romana, the Doctor's companion and fellow Time Lord, as she gives us a great pov into this planet and its people.

The story is a very obvious jab at social media and Twitter. And since this story came out things have clearly gotten worse just like in the events here. The setting also features Romana and the Doctor in a Summer Wars style virtual reality at one point, I would love to see that animated or as a comic or something.

I also think the inclusion of 11 in this story, like the last adventure, felt shoehorned in with how he was utilized. But overall I enjoyed this quite a bit. Probably my favorite of the four adventures so far.

Review of Vengeance of the Stones by Kazekun

24 May 2025

Up next, a 3rd Doctor outing for the "Destiny of the Doctor" storyline. This one is a slow burn at first and a bit boring to get into but once the villains show up it becomes much more exciting. Overall, I quite liked it and it's fun to hear the Doctor do more hands on stuff that he wouldn't normally do because he is trapped on Earth, like flying a plane in order to try and figure out clues to the overall mystery.

I do think the inclusion of the Eleventh Doctor in this story is a bit more forced this time around than in the previous two stories tho.

Review of Shadow of Death by Kazekun

I really enjoyed this one. Had a lot of great sci-fi imagery and the monsters remind of certain episodes of the show I often quite enjoy. And I liked how this handled its stand alone story as well as tied in with future stories from this event. It follows the 2nd Doctor and their companions. I don't have much to say about it in particular just that I thought it was quite good! I really liked how time was utilized and manipulated!

Review of Hunters of Earth by Kazekun

24 May 2025

Read primarily by Carole Ann Ford who played Susan, the Doctor's very first onscreen companion, the story follows the 1st Doctor and Susan 4 months after arriving on Earth. It's also the first in a 11-part story featuring all the Doctor's up until this point for the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who.

It's a pretty okay story. Not mind-blowing or anything, in fact while there is technically some villains in this story they're sort of divorced from what is the real actual threat which we don't learn the origin of--I assume we will find out more about in the following 10 stories.

I feel like the creators of the story just kind of came up with a title because there are no "Hunters of Earth" in this story. What the primary threat in this story represents is sort of an in your face allegory for racism versus tolerance. Which is fine it just needed a different title.

But I liked it, short, sweet, and easy to digest.

Review of Sword of Orion by Kazekun

24 May 2025

Paul McGann's second adventure in audio. A Cyberman story set amongst the backdrop of an intergalactic war between humans and androids. It's pretty good! A much more subdued Cyberman story than what the new era of DW TV usually offers. And a great little bit in here about humanity and if androids can be considered such. I liked it.

Review of Storm Warning by Kazekun

24 May 2025

Paul McGann's first audio drama as the Doctor, and his return to the role after his on-screen presence in the 1996 tv movie.

The Doctor finds himself boarding the R101, a passenger blimp destined to go down on its maiden voyage. But while around he stumbles onto a much bigger plot that involves the alien race known as the Triskele. He also meets his soon to be companion, Charlotte "Charley" Pollard.

I really dug this! I've listened to some McGann stuff in the past and I find him to be an excellent Doctor onscreen as well. The story is tight, I like the villains, and the chemistry between the Doctor and Charley is immediately apparent. McGann really was robbed of being the zaddy Doctor that Tennant ended up becoming.

But it was great, can't wait for more! 👍🏻
