This story got a lot more attention from me on this listen I really liked the Dilemma and loved the Leela in her head planning her fight strategy moments in part 2 I feel the back half of part 1 is a little slow dragging it down a bit but over all it’s quite good

Incredible concepts and tension, let down solely by weak book ends. I feel like the resolution to the conflict at the end of King of Sontar is a bit too quick and easy. And the last 10-15 mins kinda lost me and felt like too many new elements being added.

Still, really enjoyed it overall!

This review contains spoilers!

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

According to the audio of the 3rd Season of the "Fourth Doctor Adventures" series - The Doctor and Leela arrive at a planet that is about to be struck by a missile, and they try to get the inhabitants out so they are not hit. However, they find that the inhabitants are genetically altered humans in a mysterious scientific project, and their planet is full of killer plants that grow in the darkness. Honestly, I found the pacing and narrative execution of this story very odd - As you follow it, you get a sense of not quite knowing the full extent of what is happening. Although it keeps simple, the writer keeps adding and inserting things in a way that for me was very odd and even random - First, we have the situation of the dark planet that rarely has light, then the hungry plants called "White Ghosts" with their strange life cycle, then the genetically modified proto-vampiric humanoids, then it involves the Time Lords in the middle of everything like... I don't know, it seems like Alan Barnes had several ideas and was squeezing everything into his short writing. My highlight (perhaps the only one haha) goes to Leela; she is magnificent in this story. The initial scene is very good, we see that she used all the time (days) that the Doctor did not talk to his companion due to what happened in "The King Of Sontar" (previous audio) - To learn and improve her reading, Leela read several books, became obsessed with them to the point of believing in the fictions she read haha.

Leela: "Well, as we are always landing in England. I thought it sensible to learn about the monsters that live there. Doctor, look at this. There are ogres, trolls, and giants. There are even pigs that talk!"

Doctor: "Oww Leela... You should not believe everything you read in books."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
