LEELA: I close my eyes, so poor sight may not distract me from my task. I strike left, then right,

then left, then left again, so the creatures will not sense a pattern. Soft vapour follows the arc of my spade. The creature’s blood, I think. The girl behind me does not follow through. As she strikes, her weapon drags, becomes entrapped. I must not let this distract me. Strike right, left, right, right again, with all of my body

weight behind each blow. I must not let this distract me.
