The Thirteenth Doctor #8 'Where's the Doctor?' (2018) from Doctor Who The Official Annual 2019. Quite a good one. Mainly because it canonises Queen Elizabeth II as being a great big lizard - aside from that it's more of a collage of all of The Doctor's incarnations all being present for her coronation. Not really much of a focus on Thirteen. hallieday View profile Like Liked 0 20 April 2025 · 60 words Review by Dullish Spoilers This review contains spoilers! Where's the Doctor? One of the few times we see all 13 in one place. Even Eight shows up to the function. They all go to Elizabeth II's coronation doing 12 different side quests. An assassin is sent to kill thirteen, which is odd as it would be easier to kill the First Doctor. Thirteen accidentally causes 2 deaths and arrests the Assassin. Where’s the Doctor? is a fun comic strip in two parts, featured in the 2019 Annual. It’s ostensibly a 13th Doctor story but actually features all the incarnations with various companions and, as a consequence, it’s hugely entertaining. An assassin, Eva De Ville, is sent after the Doctor and tracks them down to Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. But all 13 incarnations are there dealing with a variety of different alien threats. The strip is frame after frame of fun with the assassin believing these other incarnations are merely bystanders getting in her way whilst she stops the various alien menaces from interfering with her mission. The artwork is great and the hustle and bustle of the coronation is depicted well. That said, there’s not a huge feeling of time and place with it actually all feeling rather modern. The ending of the story is also rather odd with it being revealed Queen Elizabeth is actually a lizard alien. It ties the story into real life conspiracy theories and leaves a slightly off-kilter weird taste to the story which, up to that point, was really entertaining. It’s also a bit odd to know that the 10th Doctor and Rose are elsewhere dealing with the Wire at the same time. But overall a vibrant, fun comic strip for all the Doctors! deltaandthebannermen View profile Like Liked 4
