The high level concept for Me is very interesting, combining this with a formidable actor like Maisie Williams seems like a sure fire bet on paper. Unfortunately somewhere in the execution (either the writing, performance or both) it just doesn’t click. The writers have been working hard to bring levity back into this series, but the balance of comedy and serious, thought provoking drama in this episode are awkward and clunky. Neither end up landing as a result. Rufus Hound as Sam Swift though is phenomenal. The way he churns out gallows humour in front of a rowdy crowd in the style of a late night club comic is the definite highlight of the story. 15thDoctor View profile Like Liked 0 15 June 2025 · 172 words Review by Jann New Who Review #123 The Woman Who Lived This one was alright. It's another case of part one was better but it's series 9 so it's to be expected. I liked how it was very different from the first part taking place a few centuries later. I like how it carries on the story of Ashildr / Me and how she's living with Immortality. Sam Swift was one of the highlights here he was a side character for most of it but he ended up becoming immortal too. His comedy was funny and the casting was brilliant. Now time for some negatives. The design of Leandro was rubbish he is basically a big lion and didn't fit the story at all. It felt like putting a zygon in night terrors. It wouldn't work at all. I felt a bit bored of this and it was mainly all just chatting between Me & the doctor the entire time it was very dull. Overall an ok story but I felt bored but it had a good idea. 6/10 Jann View profile Like Liked 0
