I'm in awe with this story for having such imaginative sci-fi concepts and for being able to juggle them perfectly while making a fascinating story with the characters and their development at their core.

The void, the Reflected (I loved the 8th Doctor paraphrasing Nietzsche and his famous quote, it felt so eerie), the Sinsa with her time-sensitive powers acting as a radar, the Eternal-like ship made of wood... Each one of them would have been enough in order to make a standard story interesting, but Tim Foley just had to put them all together and actually make it all work, hats off!

Friend and Alex are also outstanding here and Cass' cliffhanger was as good as I remembered.

If they do exist I hope the Reflected are explored further in another box set, as they were my favourite concept introduced in this story. A reflection of the ship you are on, with alternate versions of those on board, that mimicks everything the original ship does and that, if capable of getting away from the void, will become the original version forcing the rest out of existence. Yeah, amazing.

Are we back to 8th and Charlie levels of experimental stories? I hope the next boxset, Pursuit, truly delivers on that.

Reflected Waters

Prerequisites: Nowhere, Never at least, and a plethora of other assorted bits and ends (mentioned in that audio's review)

The Road Untravelled is a bit stronger than the previous audio in this set, but not by a ton. The setting is super engaging, as the cast makes their way across an old Gallifreyan warship from eons ago. I also really like some of the character moments we get here, as Alex is finally told of his actual origins in this reality, and of the fate of the 'real' him. However, I can't quite put this audio into 'great' territory because there's just no resolution. We never see any characters interact with any titular 'reflected', they never escape, and Alex and the Doctor never finish their conversation about Alex not being the 'real' one. I'm sure that these questions will be answered by the remaining stories, but unless something's an explicit Part 1, I like stories to have endings within them.

An absolutely fantastic continuation from Nowhere, Never. The use of Alex and Cass' missing pasts is a fantastic hook for this episode and plays into the ongoing story of how Alex is back and how we end up with Cass in Night of the Doctor. Having the setting be a ship trapped within the void is a particularly great stroke of genius and Hieronyma Friend really proves themselves to be a very interesting morally grey character! I also really like the idea that Cass was a member of this ship before she lost her memories and began travelling with the Doctor. It's a very interesting twist as we thought we knew her story from Meanwhile, Elsewhere, but clearly we didn't. This also gives us a great dynamic with Graff, who, in Cass' previous life, was her lover. A brilliant story and really enjoyed where it ended up!
