This is an enjoyable character piece with just enough of a mystery to provide a plot. The writer has a really good sense of both Leela and the Brigadier which makes the story fun to listen to as two of the Doctor's oldest friends compare notes and Leela avoids the temptation to skewer the Brig. Frankham-Allen’s choice to highlight their similarities and build up a relationship between the two based upon mutual respect was smart as it gave the story a distinctly touching tone, especially towards the end of the adventure as the two reminisce about their ancestors and their convergent paths.
