The Morning of the Day of the Doctor is a great bit of fun. It gives us a peak into Osgoods life and solid bit of time with the Curator, being cryptic and unmistakably themself. This story lives up to the name of being a prelude more than most in this collection as it actually explains the background events of why UNIT were at the gallery and why Osgood had Kates phone. It's not a deep story, but a good bit of fun with our characters.

This was probably my second favourite story in The Adventures Before. It follows Osgood on the morning of the Day of the Doctor and explains why Osgood had Kate's personal phone at the beginning of that episode in a hilarious and entertaining way. I enjoyed the Curator's appearance, and his compliment of Osgood's scarf! I also appreciated how it expanded on McGillop's character. However, I felt the conclusion faltered in that it left a lot of plotlines hanging that weren't resolved in the Day of the Doctor; particularly what would happen to McGillop who I don't recall ever appearing after the episode. I'm hoping that the sequel book to this short story collection that's coming out in 2025 will include a linked story that ties this one up a little better!
