This strip has a really interesting idea behind it that I'd happily see explored further. However, I felt that this strip was a little short and rushed (issues that I feel are shared with many DWM strips). The main villain was also annoyingly cringey. The art was good but nothing special.

The Fifteenth Doctor #15

'The Monster Makers' (2025) from Doctor Who Magazine 608-612.

Can't say I'm particularly sold on this one. While conceptually it seems to be a great little story, with monsters being created by a big corporation to be bought by world leaders to be used as armies, the campiness of the almost superhero-esque villain here really doesn't work in that context for me, and then as the plot develops it gets rather convoluted with the business being sold off to him and the memories of The Doctor and Ruby being used to create new monsters. It's a fairly fun way of paying tribute to the televised Season One villains, as well as a couple of DWM comic moments cropping back up as well which is great to see, but overall it hasn't left much of a lasting impression on me unfortunately.

This review contains spoilers!

A really quirky Doctor Who Magazine comic strip. I like the idea of fake human beings transformed into monsters to con war mongerers into buying them as an invasion fleet. It feels like textbook Doctor Who; the kind of madness that only Doctor Who can get away with.

It ties into Liberation Of The Daleks in a clever way, being the same technology seen in that strip being used to create the people, and also the previous Fifteenth Doctor strip with Hans Christian Anderson. Ruby wishing the people/monsters to have wings has me curious. Could it tie into the upcoming TV episode Wish World somehow?

A great premise, which develops well and builds well until the half way point, where it quickly loses momentum and doesn't deliver on its potential.

A lot better than the last one, and it finally feels like everything has been brought together for a great Fifteenth Doctor story. A lot more visually interesting than Hans of Fear, as well.

A+. Maybe A.
