Synopsis

Once upon a time, a people of great artistry and great knowledge ruled the planet Mekalion: the Kamille. For a thousand years, they prospered peacefully.

Then came disaster, when their sun set forever. Facing extinction, the Kamille made the Locus, a device to sustain their minds; and fashioned shape-changing machines, to act out their wishes on the physical plane...

Servants they called the Kamelion.

Previous Story: Power Game

I really have to commend Big Finish for not only making a trilogy about Kamelion but making it good. They've given Kamelion more development here than most companions got on TV. This is a great finale to this trilogy and an excellent story as a whole. The cast here are great. Tegan gets to bond with Kamelion, Turlough gets to be slimy and deceptive and the Doctor gets to pull a few clever tricks at the last minute to save everyone.

I really enjoy the worldbuilding here, the Kamille are a really interesting race and Chaos makes for a great villain. Kamelion constantly battling him for control of his body made for some great tension as you never knew if it was Kamelion or Chaos speaking.

The ending is nice, it's funny that Big Finish created an explanation for why Kamelion gets sidelined on TV and it's honestly a pretty clever one. Jon Culshaw is once again fantastic as he plays both Kamelion and Chaos. Overall, this story rounds out a great trilogy revolving around Kamelion, a sentence I didn't think I'd ever be typing out.
