This didn't engage me much.

I have come to quite enjoy the Companion Chronicles, and there have been some great uses of the medium, Peri and the Piscon Paradox, Solitare, the Jigsaw Wars, Find and Replace. This story though could have been an ordinary Fourth Doctor audio and worked better for it, though I think it was perhaps just before Tom started doing audios.

Here the TARDIS is in E Space with Adric having just joined. A CVE has opened and it may be the Doctor and Romana's way back to N space. However an invasion force is comming through.

The naration is split between the two actors and works well. The E space setting is great and with Adric newly boarded there is opportunity for some exploration of the new Tards team and their current situation. But the fact is that its just not that interesting, Its a Romana story so Adric doesn't feature much, the Fourth Doctor, when he is there, is not voiced by Tom so his personality doesn't come through. And it does little with being somewhere other than N-space.

There is some summing up by the two - Romana & Marni and what they say about what happens when the story is over is more interesting than the adventure we had.

Somewhat bland

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: State of Decay

Fairly standard companion chronicle, nothing that really sticks out. Some nice insight into Romana's relationship with Adric and some insight into her thoughts around E-Space.

Otherwise there's not much to say about this story other than I thought it was pretty good.
