Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time!

This time: a new take on the haunted house story!

MY SCATTERED AND TOTALLY IRRELEVANT NOTES:

Featuring the older Carnacki, voiced by Dan Starkey, The House reunites the Doctor and the seasoned ghost hunter as they unravel a forgotten mystery. This time, the focus is on the titular house and Carnacki’s friend, Arkwright, who seems plagued by a haunting presence wherever he goes.

Georgia Cook crafts an eerie atmosphere, vividly portraying the house’s unsettling qualities through Carnacki’s descriptions, enhanced by a tense and fitting score. Arkwright’s haunting presence adds to the sense of dread, even affecting the TARDIS itself, deepening the mystery.

Cook balances the tension with moments of lightheartedness, particularly in Arkwright’s reactions to experiencing TARDIS travel for the first time, which provides a refreshing contrast to the story's darker elements.

Dan Starkey, often known for his Strax-like voice in many roles, manages to sound distinct here, making his performance less distracting and more engaging. His chemistry with Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor is a highlight, enhancing the dynamic between the characters.

Overall, The House is an enjoyable ghost story, blending suspense and intrigue as it delves into the mysteries of the house, Arkwright, and the infection. Its atmospheric storytelling and strong character interactions make it an effective and entertaining tale.

You know what this set is better then I thought it would be so far I wouldn’t say the house is amazing but it’s definitely fun
