An interesting take on The Christmas Invasion from the point of view of the Sycorax.  I particularly liked the abrupt end!

Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time!

“THE FINAL DARKNESS: A SYCORAX VIEW OF INVASION”

The Final Darkness serves as both a prequel to and a retelling of The Christmas Invasion, presented through the Sycorax's own spaceship log entries. It’s always entertaining to see a well-known adventure from the villains' point of view, and the early scenes provide some insight into their motivations for targeting Earth.

A FAITHFUL RECREATION OF SYCORAX LOGIC

The writing captures the Sycorax mindset well, brimming with arrogance and disdain for humanity. Their belief in their own superiority shines through in every entry, and their perspective on the events of the invasion makes for an amusing contrast to what we saw in the TV episode.

LITTLE BEYOND THE PREMISE

While the initial scenes add some extra flavour, the story quickly settles into a straightforward retelling of The Christmas Invasion, adding little of real substance. Once the invasion begins, it becomes clear that this is more of a novelty piece than a meaningful expansion of the story.

VERDICT: A MONSTROUS PERSPECTIVE

A fun alternate take that captures the Sycorax voice well, but after the first few entries, it largely replays events without offering much new. Worth a glance for the concept, but not essential reading.

📝6/10

It’s just a re telling of the Christmas invasion but from the sycorax perspective, which actually isn’t very interesting, at least how this does it. The perspective character is supposed to be a scribe but nothing about the writting gives that impression. It’s just a worse way of experiencing the Christmas invasion that adds very little new

I want to love the Sycorax, they deserve a great story at some point. This isn't it. The repetition of of 'Sycorax rock' just feels silly, the whole tone feels off. Like I do get that this is for kids, but even then this feels strange. It doesn't match the vibe we get shown of the sycorax in The Christmas Invasion, at least for me, like there's some of it there but not at all to this extent.

And again, the framing device doesn't work at all, it's meant to be a ship's log, and it works fine as that at the start, but eventually it's recounting the events of The Christmas Invasion as they're happening, so is he writing the log while the events happen?

It just doesn't work for me.
