It’s It for children! This was a very enjoyable story, I love villains that are based on preying on some innate human emotion, it’s always neat to see it take a more conceptual and philosophical turn (even if it isn’t very deeply explored). Also, a surprise appearance from Bradley Walsh? I hadn’t realized he’d appeared in the greater Doctor Who universe before his companion debut. He was great though, absolutely hamming it up. And who could forget the introduction of Rani! I love her already, she’s a vibrant and well-adjusted character I look forward to seeing more of.

This is secretly a better adaptation of Pennywise than any of the "It" films but Big Muschietti don't want you to know this.

Not a fan of "creepy clown" type episodes, but this was done pretty well. We get an interesting alien that's a personification of fear, that reminded me of a cross between the Toy maker and Voyager's The Thaw episode.

Also, we meet Rani and her family!

Stephen King’s IT is mashed up with the legend of the pied piper to form a derivative but fun 50 minutes. It’s carried by the excellent cast of characters, including the new Rani Chandra and her parents who reassure us that we won’t be missing Maria too much (if at all!) The headteacher / Chandra’s dad subplot is more compelling than the clown being “destroyed by laughter”. A twist on the well worn “power of love” endings that plague fiction (and so much Doctor Who!)
