It features the 3rd Doctor, Liz and Benton having Christmas an UNIT HQ. Liz is a bit of a Scrooge, so isn't looking to celebrate much, whereas poor Benton has drawn the short straw as being on duty on Christmas Day. The Doctor is trying to cook a Christmas lunch using various scientific equipment but all this is forgotten when a mysterious portal opens in the sky outside the HQ, snow comes from it and then Bessie is sucked in. It's a fun little tale with pretty good characterisations of the three regulars. Stephen Critchlow narrates and does a decent job with Pertwee although his Liz is a bit manly. His Benton is full on West Country. This is something I've noticed other narrators do when voicing Benton and it always throws me a little as it's not an accent I ever consicously related to Benton. Certainly nowadays, John Levene has a strange almost transatlantic accent due, presumably, to his many years spent living in the USA. It turns out that the portal is a result of the Doctor's messing about with scientific equipment is actually a portal into the dimensional stabiliser in the lab. There is a very silly yet enjoyable scene where Liz and an UNIT pilot in a helicopter travel in the portal and then come out through the dimensional stabiliser in the lab, but shrunk to miniscule size. All of the strange events are explained cleverly though and it all wraps up quite nicely.
