For a story with a lot of potential, Miracle Day kind of goes out with more of a whimper than a bang. It's fun enough. It's good enough. It wraps up the plot thread with enough competence. But after 10 episodes, I definitely expected something a little more. It feels like the big consequence of this story is Rex getting Jack's powers, but that never even seems to come up in Big Finish. So, I don't really care much about what is going on or what is happening in this episode. There's like one kind of memorable set piece with the crazy blood ritual and everything else felt flat and disappointing. After all of Miracle Day my primary emotion watching this always winds up being fatigue. Miracle Day could have been the best of Torchwood if they had just cut it down to five episodes like Children of the Earth. They could have still done five more episodes on another story, and then we could have explored the new characters a little more. If they had done that, Miracle Day could have been perfect. Instead it just kind of sucks, it is full of this unnecessary bloat that feels like we are wasting time between plot developments. I wouldn't recommend the whole season, really. It doesn't really add much to the Torchwood experience. dema1020 View profile Like Liked 2 9 August 2024 · 182 words Review by WhoPotterVian Spoilers 1 This review contains spoilers! And so it comes to this. The final episode of Torchwood - and what an episode it was. There's only one word to describe this episode, and that's 'epic'. It has everything! Action, character moments, memorable speeches and plenty of twists and turns. Gwen has two killer speeches in this episode alone (one about her Dad and the other about death returning), and Jack has one that would be worthy of the Doctor regarding humanity's progress in the future. That twist regarding Rex transfusing himself with Jack's blood was ingenious! What a clever idea. And the pay-off at the end where it turns out he is immortal is so clever. It feels earned, because this series does such a great job at establishing just how unique Jack's blood is. Such a shame that the teases at the end for future series never went anywhere. A bit similar to Class in that regard. I would have loved to have seen what they'd have done Post-Miracle Day, although I know Big Finish have kind of made their own continuations on audio. Incoherent plotting with no emotional substance comes to an end. Flogging the same horse all series, stretching everything out. They got the people “pulling the strings” in the end. The end of “phase 1”. Thank God it wasn’t renewed - put out of my misery! 15thDoctor View profile Like Liked 1 Open in new window Statistics AVG. Rating182 members 3.06 / 5 Trakt.tv AVG. I could hear voices from the kitchen. So I looked through the door and I could see him crying. It turns out money had gone missing from work and he'd got the blame. So I went to get all my pocket money and I put it in his hand. It must've been about 2.50. And he looked at me and he said, it's not about the money. He said, I can't stand anyone thinking I'm not an honest man. And I will always remember that. Always. Because that was the first time in my life anybody had spoken to me like an adult. And then we went to the back garden and we played till dark. So that's my dad, Geraint Wyn Cooper, the nicest man in the world. And today's the day that I kill him.
