Merseryside, and the ship building is being rejuvenated, but what is Dark Alloy? Some mild spoilers ahead. Mel meets an old acquaintance and accepts a job offer, meaning she'll be leaving the Tardis, but its almost immediately apparent that is not going to happen. So rather than spending the audio in suspense at whether Mel will leaves its just a pretty redundant plot strand. There's some interesting stuff early on, Ace taken hostage/kidnapped, and the pursuers taking the house apart brick by brick - somewhat reminiscent of one of the X-Men films. But it does ramp up the proceeding. There is some alien involvement, not just the usual monsters, but intelligent, and some gateway to another world, but it kind of deflates. I stopped paying attention after the first couple of episodes, and it became more background noise. As with a lie that Ace tells in part one and I'm not really sure why, I'm not interested in going back to find out what I've missed. Theres nothing new here, its all a bt bit been there done that. Its not bad, but lacks excitement, as I've mentioned there were elements that grabbed me, but they didn't build to a great climax.
